Narnia Becoming a ‘Phenomenon’
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe brought its worldwide total up to an estimated $525 Million last week. This includes $248 Million Domestically. The film also grossed an estimated $3.3 million in the U.K., $5.9 million in France, and $2.3 million in South Korea this weekend.
Narnia is already Buena Vista’s fourth-biggest live-action title, behind The Sixth Sense and Armageddon. The film is expected to outgross those two titles this week.
“Considering that Narnia pretty much came out of the blue, it’s turning out to be quite a phenomenon,” BVI vp international theatrical sales and distribution David Kornblum said.
Meanwhile, Lion Gates’ film “Hostel” claimed the number one spot, earning $20.1 Million Domestically. Universial’s “King Kong” grossed $12.4 Million Domestically this weekend, bringing its worldwide total up to $465 Million.
