NarniaWeb Documentary in Development
Filmmaker Tivoli Silas recently reached out to NarniaWeb to let us know she is working on a documentary short currently entitled The Chronicles of NarniaWeb. The staff is looking forward to participating in interviews and seeing how it all comes together.
From the director:
The film will tell the history of NarniaWeb, essentially recounting how the films were made from the perspective of us fans. In a time in which fandoms are often put in a negative light, this is a chance to showcase us as a more positive fanbase despite our disagreements. It’s a chance to share our story with those who might not know that Narnia fan groups exist.
The production plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign, dates TBD but are tentatively planned for mid-November til mid-December. This is your chance to contribute to a new Narnia project. As we wait patiently for new adaptations, this is will provide new Narnia content while putting the fans in the spotlight. The goal is to complete the project in time for the 20th anniversary of the release of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe next December. If you’re interested in joining the email list and staying up to date on the project, sign up here.
Tivoli is better known on NarniaWeb as ‘Just Queen, not High Queen.’
That’s awesome! Good to know the director is one of us!
This sounds like a great project, I am excited to see this!
Even if the Netflix thing falls through, at least Narniawebbers can look forward to this.
Cool! NarniaWeb is indeed a special community. It not only has stood the test of time, remaining while many websites and forums from the 2000s have gone offline or become ghost towns, but has been largely spared from the nastiness that surrounds so much online discussion in the social media age. I’m looking forward to this. 🙂
NarniaWeb forever!
Very cool to hear. There’s no shortage of stories to tell from this community!
This is very exciting! It will be lovely to have Narniaweb’s story told. I have seen many of Tivoli’s posts in Narniaweb’s Facebook group (called The Chronicles of Narnia) and she always has interesting and well-informed things to say. I look forward to seeing the documentary.
I am glad to be a part of this wonderful community. The rebrand of the Talking Beasts podcast in 2017 brought me into the Narniaweb community more closely (I had read the news articles for many years but not commented much.) I enjoyed participating in the Facebook group a lot as a moderator, which was during the pandemic when a lot of people had spare time at home during lockdowns, leading to a lot of membership applications and discussion.
I recognize the screen name! Hope all goes well with the fundraising and that we can reflect upon the legacy of Narniaweb next year with the finish documentary
Great title for the doc! Happy to see NarniaWeb in the spotlight
@Trumpkin I’ve had this idea for awhile and I’m ashamed to admit it took me way too long to come up with that title, lol.
@ Just Queen, not High Queen
I agree, the title is perfect! Were there any other titles you were considering?
@Impending Doom No, I had no title for awhile. This is the only actual title I’ve come up with for this film. I would just write down “Narniaweb Doc” on my own personal project lists. Usually with projects, I either come up with the title right away or it takes me awhile to figure it out.
I think this is super cool! I’m curious how it will turn out, and it’s nice to see positive light on fandom, because man… I’m a fan of a lot of things, but the fandoms are always so messy I often stick with close circle of friends who like it because fandoms just aren’t what they used to be anymore… which is why NarniaWeb is SUCH a breath of fresh air! Even if we may have disagreements, everyone is mostly pretty cordial and kind, discussions feel like honest to goodness discussions even if opinions vary which is fun. I think it’s because we all remember what makes us the same is our love for Narnia, and I’m just so happy that such a cherished story like Narnia has a sweet fanbase — which it very much deserves with what a fantastic and meaningful story it is to many of us. Looking forward to this documentary!
