Narnia Star William Moseley ‘Would Go in a Heartbeat’ to Greta Gerwig’s Narnia, But Thinks It’s Unlikely
Would William Moseley like to return to Narnia?
The answer is yes, according to a new interview with Screen Rant, but the thirty-seven year old actor has significant doubts about whether or not he’ll be called back to Narnia in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming films at Netflix.
Moseley, who portrayed Peter Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia film series by Walden Media, didn’t hold back when asked what he would say if he were invited to return to C.S. Lewis’s magical world:
“Yes,” is the short answer. If I was asked, I would go in a heartbeat.
Moseley, however, shared some words of caution for fans who hope to see him in Gerwig’s Narnia films, referencing the end of Prince Caspian where Aslan tells Peter and Susan that they will never return to Narnia:
But I have to remind you of one line from the books and the movies. I think Aslan says it. “Your time here now is done. Your time is finished.” I remember when I shot that scene in Prince Caspian, it was a sad scene to shoot, but I understood then when Aslan said that to those characters, that when that script is written for me, my time is done. And that’s the way it is. If I might ever get asked that, great, but I don’t think it’s there.
Earlier this year, Moseley shared well-wishes for Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia adventures, as well as his hopes to visit the new set with his other Narnia cast alumni.
Should fans hope to see familiar faces in Gerwig’s new take on C.S. Lewis’s beloved series? Time will tell, but it wouldn’t be the first time for an actor to appear in multiple adaptations of The Chronicles of Narnia.
Warwick Davis first appeared in the world of Narnia as Reepicheep and Glimfeather in the BBC television series, nearly two decades before his portrayal of Nikabrik in Prince Caspian in 2008.

Hopefully they’ll cast another blond as Peter so William can come in as adult Peter at the end of LWW…
I’m with Moseley on this. I don’t really want to see them bring back the old actors for the new series. I know it’s going to feel like the old movies so why bother pretending? Giving the actors a cameo could be fun though as long it doesn’t feel like they’re pausing the movie just to do a cameo.
I think Moseley and other actors from the Walden films should reprise their roles at the end of The Last Battle. Let both versions of Narnia exist within the New Narnia. That would be great!
Similar to Warwick Davis, I think that if Moseley wants to come in and play a small role that is disconnected from the previous films that would be fine. But I would not want to see any of the old cast coming in purely for the sake of a cameo. While I do like Walden’s Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as well as Prince Caspian, I do not want those to cross paths with Netflix’s Narnia.
I would like to see some of the old actors, like William Mosely, for the new Narnia films. Though it may not be very likely. A cameo is still possible.
Even if Netflix wanted to connect this series to the Walden films (which I doubt), too much time has passed, and there’s no way any of the original Pevensie actors could even portray their grown up characters accurately. In the books, Peter is in his late 20’s at the end of LWW, and in his early 20’s in LB. William Moseley will be pushing 40 by the time they get around to filming. As he said, his time is done.
Unfortunately I think too much time has passed for William Moseley and the others to reprise their roles as adults but it would be fun to see familiar faces in the Netflix Narnia. Perhaps William Moseley could be King Frank in MN, Will Poulter could be Lord Drinian in VDT, and Samuel West could be Lord Bern in VDT or even Professor Kirke in LWW.
I love how Will is so passionate about the Narnia franchise when he talks about it in interviews. It seems that he really enjoys the fact he was in those movies. He even joined the Narniaweb 70th Anniversary of Lion-Witch-Wardrobe video – and he seems like a lovely guy. Douglas Gresham has said that he would be happy for William Moseley to play the High King Peter any day of the week, since he is so valiant. (Apparently he stayed with an actress and protected her during a lightning strike when everyone else ran away. Or similar to that. I can’t recall the exact story.)
In terms of Walden actors showing up in the Netflix versions, I want to avoid it, to make it feel like a complete and fresh reboot. Of course, if Gerwig happens to be making The Silver Chair and The Last Battle next, as a soft reboot/continuation of the previous films, then maybe they can have Georgie and Will return for TLB, but it would feel conspicuous that Skandar is not in it as Edmund (unless they can convince him?). But I wouldn’t really want that anyway because I want to move on from the tone and actors of the Walden trilogy. There’s a level of cheese in those movies that would be great to be removed from Gerwig’s movies.
It is unlikely that those two will be the next two films.
As someone said, if previous Narnia actors show up in subtle cameos, that would be fine. And I love what someone said above, that it should not feel like you are “pausing” the movie to showcase the cameo.
I don’t like the idea of both the Walden and Netflix Narnias to be present at the end of the last book, because it is not a muiltiverse like the MCU has become 🙂
I would be so happy if William Mosely had a cameo role, or even main role if he used a different voice and voiced a character we don’t see the face of well. If it’s very obvious that it is him, though, it will make me think of the Disney/Walden versions.
I’m very glad he continues to want to be a part of Narnia!
William could play another role but definitely not be Peter again, there is no way.
@EmanuelBV Maybe he can be Frank in MN or Lord Peridan or the voice of Bree in HHB or the voice of Farsight in LB.
