Rhett and Link on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The hosts of Good Mythical Morning recently talked about the The Chronicles of Narnia on their podcast. Rhett McLaughlin listed C.S. Lewis as one of his creative influences, particularly the concept of the magic wardrobe:
It went into my soul and connected with me on a cosmic level. I am so intrigued by any story that follows this convention: Starting in the real world, and then there is a pathway to another place. […] Taking what is impossible and bringing it into the tangible world. It permeates the way I think about story.

Reminds me of the quote from Mere Christianity: “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
I don’t know these young men, but I smiled when one of them said ,”I’ve been to the bar next to Oxford where they hung out,” as if it (the Eagle and Child aka Bird and Baby) was the only pub in Oxford, and as if the University were a small building!!
That sums it up perfectly!
