Virtual Production of “Shadowlands” Available for Streaming Feb 21-24
After the success of their virtual version of The Great Divorce, the Fellowship for Performing Arts is returning to streaming with a virtual production of William Nicholson’s Shadowlands. The event is free, but registration is required to receive a link to the performance.
The smart, brash Joy bursts into Lewis’ sedate, middle-aged life and upends it. Lewis is as shocked as anyone to discover he and Joy have fallen deeply in love – and almost immediately must contend with the equally deep pain of losing her when she is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Funny, poignant and insightful, Shadowlands — also an Oscar®-winning film — is a moving portrait of love and loss, faith and doubt, as inspired by Lewis’ own A Grief Observed.
The runtime of the play is 2 hours and 15 minutes. It is recommended for ages 13 and up.
Hurrah! I signed up. Thank you for letting us know.
Really looking forward to seeing it. I love the 1993 movie. I’ve also seen the TV version, which I did not like as much, so when I see this, I will have seen all three versions of the story!
Very nice, I’ve enjoyed the last one too!
I don’t know if this is something I’m going to watch. (I’m not into biographies.) But I thought I’d mention that William Nicholson also did the script for one of my favorite movies, the 2012 Les Misérables. (Unless there are two William Nicholsons.)
I love 2012 Les Mis. I completely understand (and even agree) with the common criticisms… but it doesn’t matter… it still makes me cry.
I shall be watching this! Thank you for the post!
