Mark Gordon to Head New Production Company With eOne
Narnia producer Mark Gordon begins a new venture with eOne.
After exiting his position as Entertainment One’s President in 2019, Mark Gordon is launching a new production company in collaboration with eOne. Mark Gordon Pictures will create new projects for film and TV while continuing to develop previously announced titles.
Gordon exclusively told Deadline:
“I loved my time [at EOne], it was educational and a different way of seeing the world, but I’m a producer and my heart and love is in developing material and working with writers and directors and other producers and telling stories,”
Mark Gordon has been working on adapting C.S Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia since 2013 when he first acquired the rights to The Silver Chair.
In collaboration with Netflix, the focus has now turned to a Narnia universe that will span both series and film. Here’s everything we know so far.
Just how this partnership will affect Netflix’s production remains to be seen.
I guess eOne has partnered with Netflix for thee new adaptations, although I don’t understand how many production companies can have the rights at once.
(I have read the “Everything we know” page in the past, but my brain loves details/connections and wants to understand stuff clearly.)
I like the idea of someone creative with a business mind being able to do that, to do what they love.
I wonder if this will affect Narnia at all?
I guess if eOne has some affiliation with Netflix, this could have some bearing on Narnia. I’m wondering if possibly Netflix could acquire David Magee’s script for the Silver Chair. That would be awesome.
After what happened with the Avatar: Last Airbender creators at Netflix – and Netflix’s apparent treatment of their creation causing them to quit the live-action remake – I’m constantly praying that Narnia will be spared yet another round of studio greed and cowardice. Unlikely, so I will hope Gordon & Gresham are staying for the long haul and fight for the quality of the projects, whenever they happen. Happy belated Labor Day!
Agreed, ATLA has me worried because I think a lot of us were thinking Netflix gives a lot of creative control, but now I’m less sure. I think ATLA and Narnia are much closer in tone than other Netflix adaptations like A Series of Unfortunate Events, so that’s worrying to me
I can’t believe I never made the connection before now between what happened with Avatar and what could happen with Narnia, but that is a little concerning…
Not sure where to put my comment. It has to do with netflix making NArnia.First Im sad that nothing has happened lately with making any movie/ series etc for Narnia. But Im actually very concered that Netflix is planning to make narnia. What Im seeing right now from Netflix is very scary. There seems to be a lot of sexual and even porn material coming out. I wished there would be another company making the NArnia movies or series. netflix could seriously mess it up or not many decent people left on Netflix to even watch it. we realy need to pray for it…
