No Golden Globe for Narnia

“There’s a Place for Us” by Carrie Underwood didn’t win the Golden Globe award last night. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader song had been nominated for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture, but the award went to “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from Burlesque instead.
Thanks to Movie Aristotle and everyone else for sending this in!

  3. Aslan's Meadow says:

I can't belive a song from Burlesque won over our beloved Narnia! I LOVE 'There's a Place for Us"

  4. DearHeart says:

That is so disappointing. Come on VDT you can do it!!

  5. The Inscrutable Rutabaga says:

    *Wahhhhhhhhh*

  6. Scrubbers says:

"There's a place for us" was lyrically weak and musically dull. I am surprised it was even nominated.

  7. I don't use this word very often but in the words of Warren Peace…
    "Well that sucks."

  8. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

    NOooo! this totally sucks!
i honestly wasn't totally in love w/ "There's A Place for Us", but it would've really publicized Narnia. at least it made it that far. :)……. 🙁

  9. Shy Galadriel says:

    I agree

  10. georgie_fan says:

  14. Little Lu* says:

My friend and I made a dance to that and made my mom cry…'There's a place for us' so should have won!!! It describes all who love narnia, everybody has 'a place' and everybody here's place is narnia. Books movies whatever you prefer narnia is a definite place for those who have, cherished memories, touching stories, or even just daydreams about it. 🙂 <3

  15. pselpevensie says:

🙁 There's A Place For Us should've won! it was such an amazing song!

  16. And in the words of Will Stronghold…
    "Surprised? So am I!" 😀
I wasn't the hugest fan of 'There's a Place for Us', but compared to the competition I've heard, it was the best one there. Yet again, I haven't seen 'Burlesque', and don't by any means plan to!

  17. Sad, but I was more upset that it lost to Burlesque than the idea of it just losing. I mean, losing to Tangled is one thing, but Burlesque is a joke.

  18. emijoy says:

    I know, right?!?

  19. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

I looooooooved the song- and burlesque winning over it just seemed evil-

  20. AREM says:

    hahahahahaha ; P

  21. DancingInRain says:

Dang. Now out of the three THIS one doesn't get any. That's sad. Sliver Chair better (yes I say it) Kick some boxoffice butt if it gets greenlit…and possibly gets andrew Back! Only if its meant to be…

In my humble opion, Carrie Underwood is the most talented winner of the American Idol competition.

I’m very happy that “There’s a Place for Us” received the nomination. Let’s face it though — Diane Warren is some fierce competition!

I pitched a song I wrote, “Eastward,” to Twentieth Century Fox hoping they would pick it up as a trailer for the movie… but alas, I had some VERY tough competition! I was inspired by Reepicheep’s yearning to travel to Aslan’s country at the end of the world, a main theme in the book that, unfortunately, was mostly absent from the movie.

Carrie Underwood is a class act!

I'm having trouble understanding why that Burlesque song won over the other nominees.

  24. Gem says:

I am not surprised that TAPFU didn't win, but I am surprised that a song from Burlesque won, for heaven's sake. Umm, excuse me, what about "I See the Light", everyone? There shouldn't have been any competition, it was definitely the best song of all the contenders. So disappointed! Even if "I See the Light" hadn't won, I would have liked "There's a Place For Us" to have won, just for the benefits for the movie.

  25. eclipse14 says:

    DANG.

  26. I actually liked 'There's a place for us' better than 'I see the light'. It had more yearning behind it, and I liked the tune better 😛
Actually, I was a bit disappointed with 'Tangled'. I came into the cinemas expecting something a bit like 'Shrek' (back before too many terrible sequels to count were made), and instead I got your average Disney princess movie (although Flynn and Maximus were pretty cool)just like the cartoon ones they used to make, but with better technology.

  27. Not Of This World says:

What's "I See The Light" about?

  28. Gem says:

Wow, I'm sorry you didn't like it, but how could you if you were expecting it to be like Shrek? It was a million times better than Shrek or most other animation movies made. The animation was the best I have ever seen in a movie, and the story was fresh, hilarious, and emotional. A beautiful movie, and it was brillantly done because it was NOT cliche! The music was lovely, just a lovely movie overall, and I definitely liked it better than VDT, it was just a much better movie with much more to offer.
That's kind of hard to say, "I See the Light" is about, I guess you could say, seeing the light, seeing things you didn't see before, and seeing things in a whole new way. It's kind of hard to say, you should probably just see the movie and hear it. And you really should, it's not "a princess movie" like you'd think, I mean, if you like animated movies that have great humor and a great story and great animation like Ratatouille or Toy Story 3, you'll like Tangled.

  29. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

cause dianne warren who wrote it has many fiends voting for her – it's all just politics-

  30. Kelly says:

I'm dissapointed that Carrie didn't win. After hearing 'There's A Place For Us' fully at the cinema, I actually liked it. It's a great song & upset it didn't get an award, although at least it got nominated. That's something. 🙂

  31. simplyphilly says:

    I know! So sad…

  32. WillMo for_the_win says:

Aren't you happy that the song got nominated? C'mon, it wasn't snubbed!

    Burlesque is Cher's movie, period.

  33. claireyy says:

I love the song very much! I'm not surprised it didnt win though, sorry : (

  34. Alambil and Tarvis says:

IT NEEDS TO WIN THE OSCAR. >_<

  35. Alambil and Tarvis says:

@ Gem's comment: Yeah, I was expecting that if TAPFU didn't win, "I See the Light" would, and NEITHER of them did.

Then again, this was the awards show which gave 'The Social Network' a bunch of awards that 'Inception' should have gotten, so I guess it's not THAT much of a surprise that none of this makes any sense…

  36. 100% narnia fan/ favorite series says:

Is that that song that goes "we can be the kings and queens of anythong that we believe…"? If so, that song was good. Well, not amazing or anything like that, but on a scale of one to ten, I would give it an eight.

  37. claireyy says:

was "the call" by regina spektor the theme song of PC? I like that song very much, and it's more meaningful : )

  38. Lucylove says:

Sorry it was only nominated for one and lost:( I wish it won 10

  39. Lucylove says:

Oh well, hopefully it'll win a bunch of awards! Trying to make it positive.

  40. Kim says:

Although carrie underwood did an awesome job….. Regina Specktor (sp) hit it out of the parK!
Honestly that was the best song! I cry every time … " it started out with a feeling…"

  41. lucyDaValient says:

in my humble opinion this song was amazing it sould have won period exclamation mark
