Want to Walk Like a Faun? Well Now You Can
Weta Workshop has just introduced one of the coolest products available to the public that I’ve personally seen: Weta Legs.
Weta Legs are a unique, low profile, professional grade reverse leg stilt for creature and costume performances in movies, television, theatre, circus, street performances and other creative performances. Something previously reserved for commercial film and television projects, they are the first of their kind available commercially to the public.
Weta has also posted a video showcasing their new Weta Legs (modeled by Shane Rangi and inventor Kim Graham) that you can view here.
You can own your own pair of Weta Legs for a mere $1,320.00 NZD (which equates to approximately $945 in the USA). More information on the Weta Legs can be seen on Weta Workshop’s website here.

Dude Man! I totally got to get me some of those! Im a current film student, and for that price it would be a great addition to my film equipment, and would open the door to alot of easy but unique short film ideas. I love it! thanks for the post NW!
Now I know what to ask for this Christmas. If my family starts saving up now, they might be able to afford it by then…
Just what I always wanted–to walk like a faun. 😉
Actually, it would be really cool. But considering I have no useful purpose for them, they just wouldn't be worth the money for me. Oh, well. I hope someone else has fun with them, anyway.
Hahahaha this just made my day 😛
Now we just need a special pogo stick so we can all pretend we're monopods! This is fun, but I don't have a use for them.
Um, according to the article, it's for satyrs, not fauns. 🙂
But either way, definitely cool. I'd love to hear the different ways that these have been used in film (I'm a screenwriter so am quite interested in it) if anyone knows! I'm wondering what I could do with them… 🙂
What I would give for one of these! Not $945, but still, very cool.
Did I just see this?…
i have a friend who would die to own some of these. He is making a movie with a faun in it.
Um…wow. That's original, and clearly for the movie-making-minded. To normal people like me it just looks wierd.
Wow…but I'm not paying $945 for those things… 😛
That is pretty sweet. Won't buy tham or anything but I would like to try them. Keep the story of Aslan alive!!!
Hey COOL! That would be fun to be a film student. 🙂 I really want a pair of those! 😉
Hahaha! Same here. 🙂 I really have no use for them, but they're still very cool.
I already knew how you could walk like a faun. Just put on down hill ski boots. They really work!
Hey COOL! That would be fun to be a film student. I really want a pair of those!
Now that makes me laugh. A little rich for my blood, though.
Or, better yet, save some money and walk with bent legs on your toes! That's how James McAvoy played Tumnus.
ackward. but Kinda cool
That's true, Ariel! But it wouldn't be nearly as fun as having expensive artificial faun legs! 😉
that is so much fun! I wanna walk like a faun!
that is way cool!!
I couldn't afford them, but they are pretty cool.
Do you mean that you can't afford them or that you find the Weta Legs expensive? I understand the former, but for the amount of money, planning, engineering and trialling that would've gone into getting them ready for the public, it's very, very cheap. Personally, I think the Weta Legs look great.
There are very very cool, and at first glance I want to try them, but then,I can just imagine what my concussion doctor would say to those…
haha I knew they would come out with that kind of thing someday! they should make something 4 centaurs now!! 😀 that would be awesome. 😀
OMI-ASLAN!!!! THAT'S SO COOL! MUST GET THEM!
That would be amazing!!!!
Yes, I can't afford them..but it does seem like a reasonable price if you were into filming.
im lovin on those! pen and paper please? gotta make me a christmas list.
Hmm. Get them for christmas and go to premiere in them? I THINK SO!!!
i agreed with liberty! totally!
yeah!
Actually, a fawn and a satyr are the same creature. 'Satyr' is the Greek term for a upper half man, lower half goat creature (like Mr. Tumnus). When the Romans adopted Greek Mythology as their own they renamed that creature "fawn." The satyrs in the Narnia movies were specially designed for the series, and I don't believe that look has any basis in the original myths.
If it's faun legs… yes.
Those are wonderful, but they look kinda painful. ;P
haha! that's funny, 🙂
Forgot to comment on this yesterday. . .
This is kinda. . .wierd. . .to me. I mean, who would want to spend THAT much money on something so pointless?. . .
Who wouldn't? LOL.
omg this is so funny and totally cool! i would love to have these. i would walk around in them all day. but of course its just silly im not really gonna get them cuz they're kinda pointless, but pretty cool 😛
hey cool plan 😀
they should make those legs in denim to match her outfit. jk
The ULTIMATE dream item for a narniac…
cool i always wanted to walk like a faun
That would be awesome to walk like a faun, one of my friend would die to have a pair of those.
Thank you for posting it! keep Jesus's story alive!!
