Matthew Aldrich Credited in Pixar’s Lightyear
Matthew Aldrich has a “story by” credit for Disney/Pixar’s Lightyear, which opened this weekend.
The beginning of developing the movie, I was working with Matt Aldrich, who is our first writer who left the project amicably. He had other things to do.
Director Angus MacLane (full story)
In 2019, Aldrich was announced as the “creative architect” of Netflix’s Chronicles of Narnia movies and series. The studio has reveled little about the project since. Last year, a source close to the production told NarniaWeb it was still in active development.
Aldrich also co-wrote Disney/Pixar’s Coco (2017).
I’m glad that he only got a “story by” credit, because I was not impressed with the screenplay for this film. There were some good ideas (though also a lot of bad ones) but the biggest problem was the execution of them, making it feel very by-the-numbers overall.
Well, hopefully those “other things to do” included Narnia!
Yes, I hope he’s gotten to get some good work in for Narnia. I’m glad he still got credit for contributing at Pixar, though.
The screenplay for this movie did not excite me, therefore I’m delighted he merely received a “story by” credit. There were some nice concepts, but the major issue was how they were carried out, which gave the overall impression of being quite formulaic.
