Been waiting for this podcast! 😀
I found myself agreeing with Rilian's controversial "some books mean more" comment. I was a huge Harry Potter fan ten years ago, but now as an adult, my passion for that series has significantly cooled while my love and wonder for CoN has only intensified. (It's like Aslan… every year I grow, the books become more meaningful to me.) Even though CoN is often read by younger children, I think there is much more philosophical depth in CoN as compared to a series like Harry Potter.
I liked Ransom's idea for a teaser! That's an awesome image to visualize.
*makes a note to get a twitter account sometime soon* Gotta show support my favorite series! #FollowTheSigns 🙂
Feels good to have a news podcast again!
Yes, the hype begins! #followthesigns! Some books are more important than others for sure. I also love the teaser poster idea.
"We have fallen into the Glumpuddle and we cannot get out!" Best part of the whole podcast because it's true!
Oh yes, I loved that bit! XD
I tweeted. 😀
You make great points at the end about the community needing to step up. I've been trying to spread the news with all my friends, but I feel that I should do more.
^^
I don't have 22 minutes right now to listen to the podcast, but hooray for new news. 🙂 I have never been a regular poster, but I've popped by this site periodically since its beginnings. Thanks for reporting!
I am glad to hear that other people have reservations about the movie. I hope that we see the LOTGK very little, less is more. The witch takes away from the meaning of the book. Follow the signs and follow Jill. Jill is the central character, not the witch. If the studio blows this movie then I am done with Narnia movies.
Rachel Hurd-Wood as Green Lady.
I did read the discussion about cast and character in the forum, this is my reply to your topic. 🙂
But you have to make sure the movie make money, if it didn't how we could get the next sequel, if you could make it small but still earn money which enough to greenlit another sequel, then it's ok.
If there's someone who could make Narnia movies as successful as LOTR, I think nobody is going to complain. 🙂
Why LOTR make us cheers? Why it make somebody cries? Why it touch us? Because it's greatness!! Of course!! Because it's so great. What make Avatar so wonderful? With the different levels in filmmaking history they have achieve. If you only want a small Narnia films, you have it, BBC version is enough.
We appreciate what we get, even with Michael Apted's VDT, yes, it's below many people's expectation, but we should thanks for what others gave us, their contribution, even if it's not perfect. We should hoping for a better Narnia films, of course, but ask yourself, if you are Aslan, how you should think? Isn't the mistake done by Michael Apted gave us an important message from Narnia? From Aslan? If you are fans of Narnia, if you love Narnia, don't you think this is the spirit we should learn?
Of course, I also hoping for a director who can make a better Narnia films, I hope Narnia could be as great as LOTR, but if Michael Apted get the job to direct The Silver Chair, I could still accept him to direct. LOTR's version Narnia movies is my dream, I like to hear when someday people call Narnia movies the next LOTR or the next Star Wars. But if it couldn't, then it's fine, just appreciate what we get and what we have, and what "Aslan" gave us.
The problem with Dawn Treader was that Apted totally missed the focus of the book. I'd rather not have a movie if the creator misses the theme of the book that much.
I'm also very angry about his mistake when I saw VDT in theatre for 1st time.
Why some people suggest a big name director? It's obvious that they are hoping for a great success Narnia films, because those "big name" director prove their ability and quality in the filmmaking, if Narnia films achieve the level of LOTR, don't you feel happy and proud?
Why people try to achieve the level of LOTR, because it's already become a great example, it became a target of many people's life, having a challenge in our life is a good thing, it help people moving forward. Andrew Adamson or Michael Apted, they tried to do their best, hoping to gave us the best Narnia.
There's nothing wrong people trying to do another LOTR. Something could became your target, your aim, because it's great, it's awesome, because it's worthy for you to hit the target or exceed it, it gave us "hope", but when we failed we will no regret for it, at least we tried.
You know, when I heard David Magee is the screenwriter of The Silver Chair, I really feel very excited, because hope is finally come.

"I'm going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn't any Narnia."
What about Ruby Barnhill as Jill Pole?
Anyone like Sam Claflin as Rilian?
Not a bad choice. 🙂
And what about Ansel Elgort?
Few more choice:
Charlie Cox
Craig Horner
Nathan Mcleod
I'll be back when there's another big good news about The Silver Chair movie. ^^
My dream cast for the film r Mackenzie Foy as Jill Pole, Eddie Redmayne as Prince Rillian, Martin short as Puddleglum, Michelle pfeiffer, Elizabeth Michell or Rebeca Mader as the Green lady, Melissa Mcarthy as the Nanny Giant and Imelda Staunton as the Queen Giant.
I hope, that Andrew Adamson will be director "The Silver Chair" and Harry-Gregson Williams will be composer this film.Andrew felt climate Narnia books and I hope, that he return. And Williams – in his music I feel magic, epic and majesty. This is all, what I love in Narnia books. My dream cast:
If Jill Pole will be 12 years old in film, my candidate is Kylie Rogers. If Jill Pole will be 16 or 17 years old in film, my candidate is Elle Fanning. Eustace – Will Poulter. Poulter must be return as Eustace. Poulter is Eustace. Eustace is Poulter. Will Poulter was amazing as Eustace and I don't know who could replace him. Puddleglum – Rupert Everett/Bill Nye. Lady of Green Kirtle – Cate Blanchett, King Caspian – Ben Barnes, Prince Rillian -Aidan Turner. Liliandil – Laura Brent, Gary Sweet as Lord Drinian, Liam Nesson as Aslan and Peter Dinklage as Trumpkin. I can't wait this film.
I agree with you, I want Andrew Adamson back as well as music composer, Harry-Gregson Williams because one of my wish lists is to make the music sound magical. The music can't be the same without him. But I suppose Hans Zimmer wouldn't be too bad.
Yes, Hans Zimmer is great composer. He composed "The Lion King" and "Spirit" and more movies, but I think, that Williams must return, becouse, He know and felt specific Narnia climate. His music is illustration Narnia. In his music are good, but also fearful. I think, that if Howard Shore composed all films about Middle-Earth, Harry Gregson Williams, should be composer all 7 Narnia films.
This guy wants to be the director for this movie, and I feel like I can trust him.
