The Hobbit Trailer Is Here
Is it Narnia? No. Is it awesome? Yes. Look for Ken Stott, the voice of Trufflehunter, playing Balin. He is wearing makeup by Tami Lane, who won an Academy Award for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Sit back and enjoy
VERY AWESOME! Woo hoo!
It looks absolutely amazing. I hope that's not a Gandalf/Galadriel romance they were hinting at.
Plus, I think I saw Radagast. 😀
I canNOT wait! Neither can my son (who is 7 and has read all the books several times – I finally let him see the Trilogy movies).
Agreed. Awesome pretty much sums it up.
this looks soooo cool i just started reading the hobbit so i'm super excited!!
Wonderful!! Wonderful!! Wonderful!! I cannot wait a year for it to come out!!! Ahhhhh!
Awesome doesn't even cover it. I've got goosebumps. Peter Jackson knows what he's doing, nobody else could've directed these movies. Makes me curious about what he could've done with a Narnia movie…
Oh my word!!! After I watched this, I ran around the room screaming! It looks SOOOOOOO FABULOUS!!!!!!! Dec. 14, 2012, cannot come too soon for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG!!! again the ring!!!! ugh!! come on!!! i do not like LOTR!!! and i thought this movie would be different!!! -.-!!!
Sorry, the Hobbit is the prequel to Lord of the Rings. XD
(Technically written first with LotR built off it, actually)
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…… did not know lol!!!! XD!! sorry, but yeah, I thought it would be another story!! =( , more interesting and different.
The Hobbit tells how Bilbo found the Ring, but no one knew what the Ring was until the Fellowship of the Ring. So the Hobbit should be much different than LOTR, both in substance and style. And it has dwarves!
I think this movie is going to be AWESOME! I can't wait!
Finally! I've been waiting for this for a long time 😀 Now the only thing I want to see is… THE MOVIE!
Awesome!!!!!! It looks so good. Can't wait!
I'm so glad Peter Jackson's directing it, since he did such a good job on the LOTR trilogy. I'm also glad that Howard Shore is doing the music.
Based on that trailer, it makes sense how Elijah Wood is in The Hobbit. I had been wondering about that.
I do wonder why they're doing the movie in two parts. I've always wondered how that works. I'll probably become sooo anxious for part 2 after I see part 1.
I'm very excited for this! LOTR are my next favorite books after Narnia.
They are singing!
I agree. If it isn't Narnia, don't make a post….
I'm with you!!!!! ;)warriorOfNarnia
Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES!!! Love it!
We get other non-Narnia things here because of the actors who were in Narnia go on to play other roles. 🙂 (I believe the guy who voiced Trufflehunter is one of the dwarves)
Also, Tolkien was a good friend of Lewis'… better than letting the site go dead from lack of news at all. 🙁
You are right! That is true!
I'm quite looking forward to this.
(one Narnia actor, two Sherlock actors, and the Seventh Doctor. XD)
One word. EPIC.
Nope, that was not Radagast, it was most likely Thrain, the father of Thorin Oakenshield. If youre referring tot he scene were Gandalf is walking in that dark creepy place, and then he sees that crazy guy who starts fighting him, I'm pretty convinced Gandalf is at Dol Guldor, where he sees Thrain, and gets the map and key of Erebor.
Personally The Hobbit is my favorite of the series, but if you do not LOTR, youre not going to like this at all. This is going to be soooo awesome for LOTR fans. Man I got chills when I heard the drwaves start to sing, and the scene with Gollum, that was crazy. Martin Freeman nailed the terrified look in that shot.
I'm happy theyre doing two parts, so then they can fit in everything in the book into the movie. And I think this trailer really reminded me of Fellowship, probsbly cause theres alot of scenes in the shire and with Gandalf.
"Is it Narnia? No. Is it awesome? Yes." lol
So excited. And it's cool that a Narnia actor will be playing my favourite dwarf (though Fili, Kili, and Thorin look like they could be decent competition).
Actor-wise, Trufflehunter = Balin.
If that is Galadriel playing with Gandalf's hair, then it's not a romance. It can't. She's married to Celeborn. Has been for a couple ages too. And Elves don't cheat.
@Warrior: Don't worry, NarniaWeb isn't going to become a Hobbit blog. We won't be tracking the movie very closely or posting much Hobbit news. This was a special exception.
Actually, I think I'm mistaken, that might have been Radagast, for several reasons 1) He's eye to eye with Gandalf while fighting him 2) He is wielding a staff, so maybe it is Radagast.
I don't think PJ would make that the case. It would be horrible if it was that way tho.
Yeah, thats why TheOneRing.net exists.
I like Dwalin or Bombur lol.
Even though its not Narnia, its still awesome! I think this will be able to hold me over until we return to Narnia! 🙂 I really hope that they stay close to the book! 'The Hobbit' is by far my favorite Tolkien book.
I believe that's why this story is in "Word on the Street" and not the actual "Narnia News". 😉
Yes, The Hobbit is my favorite of his writings. Seeeing this trailer is torturing me cause I have to wait til Dec of next year! Plus I can not wait to see what Smaug looks like. Man this movie is gonna be epic!
The part when the dwarves started singing really gave me goosebumps!
Actually The Narnia lover, you would like The Hobbit I think, its less of the whole epic-destroy-the-ring-and-save-Middle-earth story line. The point of the story is actually to recapture the dwarves lost treasure, which was stolen by the evil dragon Smaug. Its much more light hearted then LOTR, and thats why I prefer it. The ring isn't the main part of the book, and in the book it only plays a mild part in the story (mostly because Bilbo does not know its true powers and link to the Dark Lord, and he never tells anyone he owns the ring until after The Quest of Erebor).
oh my gosh!!! this looks absolutely AMAZING!!! i almost cried while i watched it! i grew up reading this book and im so psyched!
what makes me sooooo very happy was that they decided to begin it EXACTLY how i had hoped they would. last year i was discussing The Hobbit with another LOTR fangirl in my writing class, and i had mentioned that i think it would be the smartest thing to begin it with a narration from the Bilbo of The Lord of the Rings, either speaking to Frodo (as they have done) or to the audience or something like that. and they did it! i got so excited at that point. it made me giggle that my hopes had come true 😀
plus, now i know what Elijah Wood was there for. i've been watching the production videos on thehobbitblog.com, and the latest one had a glimpse of Elijah standing in his hobbit costume, checking out the camera screens with 3D glasses on. and i was like "Elijah! what are you doing there?!" now i know 😀
it'll be even more torturous, Dylan, that after watching the first part, we'll have to wait ANOTHER year for the second part. now that will be torturous! and yeah, i cant wait to see Smaug either 🙂
Ugh, PJ really knows how to keep an audience in suspense……..
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PART. I love how they are actually having more songs, in LOTR there seemed to be a real lack of them.
I've watched this trailer at least 6 times and I still can not grasp the epicness.
Thank you and to wait a year to see it.
I watched this two days ago already. It is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo AWESOME!!!!! I hope the soundtrack has Thorin's song in it…..That song is AMAZING….Bilbo is so cute!!!
Now WHY would PETER JACKSON do something like THAT????? He would NEVER do something like that. I trust Jackson. He is one of the BEST movie directors, especially making books and classic stories into movies. He really STICKS with the storyline. Don't worry about something like that. ^_^
Given the history of the two characters, it makes sense for Gandalf and Galadriel to have a close relationship, but definitely not a romance–after all, Andrew Adamson is NOT directing this one. 😉 Besides, what would we call such a romance? Galandalfriel?
Part of the reason they're doing it in two parts is because–reportedly–they're also including other canonical material that took place within the time frame of "The Hobbit", and is briefly mentioned in the text, as well as in LOTR. Basically, while Thorin & Company went after Smaug, Gandalf and the White Council (including Elrond and Galadriel) took out the Necromancer of Dol Guldur in Mirkwood. Later they found out that the Necromancer was really Sauron in disguise, so there is a connection between this material and LOTR.
You're absolutely right about Peter Jackson! Thank goodness he's directing it!
I don't think it's Radagast, The One Ring.net has stills of his face and it looks very much like a dwarf.
I thought the same thing, with all the scenes of them traveling over the mountains with Gandalf guiding them
looks like a normal movie nothing cool
*roll eyes*
To be fair, Galadriel actually kisses Frodo in the FOTR trailer as a sort of farewell kiss. Maybe Galadriel is doing the same thing here, comforting Gandalf about the journey ahead. Just a theory.
That was my favorite scene in the trailer by far!
This does look promsiing. I'll keep coming back for more.
