April Fools: ‘The Giant Surprise’ Next Narnia Film?
Hope you enjoyed our April Fools jokes this year!
Walt Disney Pictures currently has The Chronicles of Narnia: The Giant Surprise listed for Summer 2013. Monsters, Inc 2 is also listed.
“A Giant Surprise: A Narnia Story” (Amazon listing) was written by Hiawyn Oram in 2005, before the release of the LWW film. Amazon’s synopsis reads:
Based on characters originally featured in C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, The Giant Surprise is a brand new Narnia adventure story about Marshwiggles, giants, and mice for young children. Lally, a small wigglet, and her Uncle Puddleglum undertake a hair-raising rescue of their mice friends, before they become a giant’s supper. This new picture book—and the others in the series—shares the values of C. S. Lewis’s original work and explores a world of courage, kindness, and companionship.
THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED. But it could mean that the rights to Narnia have gone back to Disney. It may be that Disney is planning to release both “A Giant Surprise” and “The Magician’s Nephew,” probably at different times. If true, this may shed new light on Michael Apted’s famous interview, in which he said they were drawing material from “the book C.S. Lewis didn’t write.”
Thanks to ‘Caspian-11th’ for the find!
GlumPuddle, you're really trying your luck with this one….Before we know it, Michael Flaherty will be informing us that marketing research has found "Lally" to be more likely to succeed with moviegoers than Jill Pole.
I thought you said no more jokes. 😉
Today, it is April Fools' Day, isn't it?
No, tomorrow is April Fool's day. As of 2 years ago, the U.S. government changed the date of April Fool's from the 1st of April to the 2nd of April. So beware tomorrow of the jokes. 😛
I'm sorry, but you're both mistaken. April Fools' Day has been changed to April 31st. 🙂
What is this? What about MN?
*rolls on the floor laughing* HAHA!! yay April Fools!!!!!
It's the story C.S. Lewis never wrote, of course!
Oh, oh, please don't joke about this…I'm still trying to wipe Suspian from memory.
This was an interesting book. Not sure if it work in movie form. I almost wish Disney would take it back.
🙂 Let's hope all Narnia Producers aren't on Narnia fan sites today….They will get to many ideas. :)..good one glumpuddle
Yay! I saw this book at a bookstore one time, and I thought it was kind of cute. It would be nice as an animated film! (Of course I don't believe this news story for a minute, considering what day it is… 😉 I'm just playing along for fun.) Hey, if they made this movie, at least we'd get to see Puddleglum! 😉
HAHA! *FUNNY* Though, I've read that book. I hated Lally. For a marshwiggle, she was TOO optimistic 😛 this is funny jokes! 😀 😀 😀
I thought Lady Arwen said that 😛
Is this what you meant by "another NW joke has come true" on the animated feature newsstory? 😉
this is a joke right
LAME LAME LAME
This isn't even in the seven Chronicles. This is a spin-off book. C. S. Lewis himself never wrote it. I've never read the book but I don't want it wth the actual serise. But before I get angry ( 🙂 ), I think this is an April Fools Day joke.
So the second book "Lewis never wrote" is getting made into a movie! Woo hoo! 😉
What was that?
Hmm, why Summer 2013? I say they should release it a little earlier in the year, maybe in the Spring. In fact, April is probably the best time to release a Narnia movie. It'd be Foolish to do otherwise.
I thought we were done with the April Fools jokes…although I do have to admit that I like to see what you guys come up with for today!
Yeah….yeah…I'm sure. 😛 *laughs* April Fool's day is here…can you tell? 😛
Suspian is Susan + Caspian. Wost addition to a Narnia movie ever.
I hope this IS an April fool's day joke!
You think that's bad? Check this story out: http://www.narniafans.com/archives/11789
😉
Michael Apted must think it's great for marketing to today's kids.
Very funny, gP! And although there's a lot of jokes Fox and Walden might consider, this one's a very unlikely! 🙂
Haha! "The book C.S.Lewis didn't write"! gP =) Thats the best april fools joke ever!
hahahaha! come on, people! this is obviously an april fools joke!! 🙂
This has to be an April Fool's joke. Right??
Haha!! Well, that prank was ruined…
OK, wait. Is this serious, or a joke??? Someone please tell me the truth :)!
I feel like replying to my NarniaWeb counterpart… haha. XD This was great, glumPuddle. It actually sounds halfway believable! 😛
Thanks Narniaweb's April Fool's. Love it! Wouldn't it be all the more hilarious if the April Fool's joke were that these stories were real?
One of these times you're going to have a true story that's so outlandish and I hope it's on April Fool's.
Only on a Narnia Nerd website would everyone go in a fenzey without noticing the date ;D
haha I am by no means innocent of this either XD
That is for sure!!! I almost believed it until I looked at the other posts and looked at the list of upcoming disney movies!!! What a disaster that would be!!!! Gp u outdid yourself! >_< Lets all hope and pray this stays a rememberable April Fools joke!
OMGOSH I knew immediately it was a joke..I mean COME ON!!!! lol honestly, every year you pull one, and every year it gets bigger and bigger. 😉 hahah but I do have to admit…it's HIlARIOUS!! And hilarious to see people's reactions. 😉
haha I saw that on facebook…this one is actually more believable!!!
I really do hope that the rights for Narnia go back to Disney if anything…
April Fools, April Fools. Er, right? Probably.
~laughs~
funny joke–I think ? how did you make an Amazon listing ?
I couldn't believe D Grisham sold out ?
Oh the book is real, movie isn't ! ha ha ha.. clever. 'By mixing a little bit of truth with it they made their lie far stronger…'–the Last Battle. Am I right ?
i wannabe in a narnia film
this is a good april fools joke
Ah, hahahahahaha. . . Ya, right.
LOL. That was a good one. Ha ha 😀
Ya know, I actually believed it until I read the comments. Nice one gP. 😉
Oh, how much nicer the world would be had Suspian been an April Fool's joke…
Again, another Disney disaster. What happened to the good old Disney movies? Who would actually go and see a movie about marsh-wiggle who go rescue mice? C.S. Lewis was much more creative. And what about Disney dropping Narnia because they weren't making enough money to fill their drooping pockets. When will they pay for their folly and lack of imagination?
LOL.

AHEM… um…Mr. Gresham ?
I LOVED suspian but then again, i hadn't read PC first. therefore i felt like caspian was a real heel macking on Lil. 😉
This must be April fools, I'm not buying this.
Is it April 2nd yet????
This had better be a joke cause otherwise I'm gonna lock myself in my room eating icecream the rest of my days with my hundreds of cats screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I'm just waiting for April 8th!
Don't believe ANYTHING today!
