Let's see. I think 'A Basket of Flowers' is pretty good. My sister suggests 'Giant Killer', 'Sir Knight of the Splendid Way', 'Teddy's Button', 'Tomorrow' (my sister said that one is a little depressing!), and 'The Hedge of Thorns'! Hope this helps!!!!!!!! 🙂
Suggestion : Check out " Sir Malcom, and the missing Prince." I haven't read the book, but the theater is SO good !! How much do they cost ? Do you know ?
Love how his forum is not afraid to discuss spirituality, especially Christianity, when analysing this film. It brings a whole new dimension to it. I for one have always loved the the books and lived inside Pauline Baynes' insightful interpretation of Lewis' story.
As far as the films go, like the books, they will never be given the same treatment as stories based on the arcane i.e. Harry Potter/Twilight etc. For those of you who are spiritually minded out there, we know there has always been a battle for peoples minds, hearts and souls throughout all the media and education facilities. I remember several people hating the Chronicles because it was sooo Christian, one of the most notable being the author Michael Moorcock who wrote about souleating swords etc.
The problem is that we Christians are not as dissimilar from the rest of the world as we need to be and we permit every esoteric breeze to blow an unnecessary new hue into our belief system. The only "surrender" we have to consider is to God's will and nothing else should be permitted to get in-between. Hence, although not Lewis-penned, the line about noble-hearts need not be taken as a nod to the idea of "earning Salvation". Think of Bunyan, the Waldenseans, the millions of Christian maryrs throughout the ages and you will surely agree that these HUMBLE HEARTS/PURE HEARTS were indeed NOBLE HEARTS. They did not hold their convictions; their convictions held them! Remember the pure in heart are blessed for they shall see God.
I have yet to treat myself to a DVD of this film, so I await the extras with eager anticipation (I have yet to convince the good lady that a Blu-ray player is essential for life to continue as we know it!!). However, despite missing the Disney touch, I still felt that the film was not as fast-paced as other more popular series i.e. HP and Star Wars which move so fast that I have never gained any afinity with any so-called characters; thus I still enjoyed it. I agree that it would have been great to have been given a little more of the depth that CSL gave to the history of narnian mythology, the true story of Dragon Island, leaing Caspian on the ship rather than have him also travel across the sea of lilies. I would have liked to have seen the confrontation with the kings and queens of the under-water kingdoms, but Lewis was always regarded as a Junior associate of Tolkien mainly because Lewis' novels were overtly Christian in nature, whereas Tolkien included Messiah-types from other cultures also. Yeah, I know the books behind the fist two films actually have St Nick, Bacchus, Maenads, Dryad, wood-nymphs etc, all or which are steeped in paganinsm; but I am allowing for Lewis' love of ancient mythology particularly British and classical (Greek).
Which leads us back to the argument that the film was anti-Lewis.
If it was anti-Lewis, I don't think it would have been made at all. Yes, the themes were diluted to an extent, but they are still there.
I really hope SC is made and screenplayed closely to the book. Anyway, that's my three-pence-worth. Have a great day andenjoy the film, the book and The Book behind the book. God Bless
I have read and re-read the books countless times over the past 38 years (picked up LW&W when I was 9 years old). I have already said in previous comments that there were missed opportunities. But this was good film nonetheless.
Okay, I am puzzled about why Ben Barnes and the Telmarines spoke like Italians in PC and then spoke either the Queen's English or cockney (or even Irish – Drinian)respectively; but that aside, as far as Children's fantasy films go, this was not bad.
If we fans don't support these sort of projects, they will never make the rest of the stories into films.
Constructive criticism, as well as a few £/$s, can only but help the film-makers consider our views more respectfully.
I agree too. The colours were vibrant. The action scenes, although short in some places, were well shot. The CG made sense.
Again, more about the history of the Dufflepuds, the use of Koriakin's map, and showing Ramandu and the fire-berries would have been wild; but, perhaps the money and the will were not there. Here's to hoping we will get the best of both worlds with SC :0)
That's what you get when you have a James Bond director and composer for a fantasy film. Come on guys, if you are stepping up to Adamson's plate, should SC come online, please invest yourselves into it.

Well, we just talked and just like actual talking, subjects change. We started to Jesus, then to HHB, then to C. S. Lewis, then to horses , then to horse tack. ok ? So, to answer your question: I don't really, know. We just chat like anyone else does.

Perhaps think of writing a beloved, long-worked on story. You come to know the characters so well that they are pretty close to alive at times! Then imagine someone recreating and changing the characters, the plot, the whole story and message and only leaving certain, albiet "christian" themes. Do you think you would like it?

I have watched half the movie on the DVD and it seems to have deleted at least one scene from the theatre version. Has anyone else noticed this???
