I agree that VDT was great, but Narnian, just because you don't agree with GPuddle, dosn't give you the right to dis like him. I must say, I don't agree with him a lot, but that doesn't mean I don't like him. I like that he says what he thinks.

  2. Mayor Wilkins says:

"Seriously, glumPuddle…it just seems you are always trying to find a way to have a bad day and spread the misery. This is characteristic of this post and your youtube comments on this and previous movies. You can’t just relax and enjoy watching a film – you have to sit around analyzing, analyzing, analyzing trying to find everything you can wrong with it and go out of your way to be disappointed. That’s just sad, sir."

    Exactly.

It's a shame. Because this is a beautiful movie.
Personally, I will treasure all three of these movies until the day I go to Aslan's Country. 😉
I feel bad for anyone who can't see the beauty.
But I'm not gonna let it get me down.
    For the record:
    Movie is wonderful
    Cover is wonderful
    Deleted scenes should be fun
I liked The White Witch and The Green Mist.
I feel sorry for the haters.
    Have a wonderful day. 😉

  3. Reepicheep says:

Yes i agree completely. This one didn't have what the first two had and that was the Disney stamp. Massive shame there are no bloopers on this one.

  4. Savber100 says:

Haters…? Really? People dislike the film and they're labeled as haters? Haters are people that rail against a film without valid reasons and for the fun of being a disagreeable person. I personally enjoyed the first film and was slightly disappointed with the second and third. You appreciate the film and it's fine but don't go stating the 'beauty' of the film as if it was something absolute. If someone differs from your opinion, it doesn't mean that the opposite side 'just don't get it' and are ignorant of what YOU see as a good film.

  5. Lucy says:

Dude, just cuz YOU didn't like the movie doesn't make it anti-Lewis. I'm sorry you didn't like it, but geeze, get over yourself.

  6. Savber100 says:

Read his review and watch his videos. GP states the exact reason why he believed the film contained themes CONTRARY to themes in the book.

(e.g. Remember the scene at the World's End? We have Aslan stating that His country was a place that allows for "noble hearts" and the deserving. Not to get too deep on the themes but that went against everything that C.S. Lewis stood for on salvation which speaks how we enter God's grace through HIS grace and given redemption and not because we have "noble hearts" and that we earned it. The stuff in the film is typical Hollywood secular humanist trash. Seriously, rewatch the movie and you'll see a drastically different theme.)

In the end, try analyzing the bloody film before "sitting back" and accepting everything the filmmakers chug into our head.

  7. Lucy says:

It's a bloody NOVEL turned Movie, not the Bible!

  8. georgiefan1 says:

ditto that!!! I want an audio commentary so bad!

  9. Eustace says:

I can't believe that people are so down on Glumpuddle for nothing. A lot of other people including myself didn't really like the movie, and I usually don't agree with Glumpuddle. This was a badly made film. It just the facts. Anyway, I wish they had more deleted scenes.

  10. Savber100 says:

    Never said it was…
However, your post implied your misunderstanding on why some people believe the movie was anti-Lewis and I explained the reasoning behind it. Sure, it's not the Bible but the novel contained CHRISTIAN THEMES that were twisted by the filmmakers to something to the contrary. So, I fail to see how commenting that the "novel isn't the bible" applies to anything. That hardly gives the filmmakers free reign to slaughter the spiritual themes within the novel.

  11. narniafan says:

ok it is just wrong wivout any bloopers or commentaries, i wz so looking forward 2 the bloopers, especailly wiv will poulter 🙁

  12. Well, this is a theatrical DVD/blu-ray release. These usually don't contain much. However, the info provided at Narniafans.com, if accurate, is encouraging:

multiple editions of the film: 3-Disc Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy; 2-Disc DVD Special Edition; Single Disc DVD Edition

The 3 Disc blu-ray certainly sounds like an extended edition, which is what most of us want, and which will contain more comprehensive special features.

Perhaps one of these days Fox will get around to letting us know the facts. (Impatient, I know, but that's the digital age for you.)

  13. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

NO ACTOR COMMENTARY?!?!?!?!?!?!??????????!? I was like "what the heck? no bloopers? that sucks." and THEN i saw the commentaries….
seriously, no actor commentary is like going from one extreme to the next! i propose a boycott! ….well, then again, we're buying it for the MOVIE, but special features make it more exciting. 🙁

  14. QueenSusanJ316 says:

ok, do you guys think the mysterious scene with the four pevensies in narnia is one of the children's scenes?

  15. FriendOfNarnia2 says:

So how many minutes of deleted scenes were on the Prince Caspian DVD?

  16. Alambil says:

I wish. Actually, the reason for the "…" after "The Kids in Narnia" is that isn't the full name of the scene. It's actually "The Kids in Narnian Clothes", which might go into Lucy having to borrow some of Caspian's things. That's just a guess, though. =)

  17. Kelly says:

It's a shame we're not getting as much as the other movies but at least it's something, plus the actual movie, don't forget. 🙂

  18. Josh says:

That's very negative for a Christ Proclaimer…haha jk.

I dunno if this movie was anti-Lewis like gPuddle says, but it was still a pretty bad movie. I left the movie theater feeling like doo-doo. Seriously, I still have NO IDEA what the green mist was. LofGK?? White Witch barf? I also didn't know if the characters could physically see the green mist or if it was a complete metaphorical thing or something.

  19. Shastafan says:

I feel like calling it an "Anti-Lewis Movie" is a bit over the top. But you are allowed to your own opinion, and I'm sorry that the movie feels like that to you. I am hoping that SC (if it's made) will be much, much closer to the book, and will give you optimism about these films again. 😉

  20. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

im really hoping to see the scene from the trailer where all four kids are walking together in narnian clothes. what was that all about? they look older, like it was new footage.

  21. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

that would probably cost the producers extra- don't hold your breath-

  22. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

agreed, i have a whole script in my head that would eliminate the whole beginning and just start in front of the narnian painting. that would have left much more time for character development. dang, i'd have written the whole script for them, it would have made more sense.

  23. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

yeah, SC is more straightforward, they are less likely to screw it up.

  24. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

yes, that's what i miss, the disney stamp. it has a special feel to it, not to mention top of the line marketing.

  25. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

i look with envy at tron and tangled, knowing all of that effort would have been ours.

  26. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

    marshwiggles are tough… : )

  27. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

i think what DW just mEans is- WE KNOW YOU DONT LIKE IT, STOP BUMMING EVERYONE OUT!!

  28. {the girl who checks her closet erry night} says:

all i'm going to say is that i am really excited about the deleted scenes, since i felt the movie lacked some.
and i really want to see lots of bloopers. those are ALWAYS GREAT.
and hopefully lots of talks with the kids, i want to see georgie & skandar for one last time, and get introduced to will a little more.

  29. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

I can see Disney taking out the christian themes since that company has changed from a god fearing company to an anti-christian one over the years. I was hoping Fox might step up to the plate and protect the underlying christianity more, but I guess the studios of today are trying to bland down everything to make it less "offensive" .( even though 80% of america still identifies as christian) l therefore think the only way to get this series right is to take it to an openly christian company to finish the series off right. esp the Last Battle. How could anyone secularize that one and have it make sense? too bad mel gibson destroyed his reputation, at least he'd have the nerve to keep the themes in it.

  30. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

"I PITY THE FOOL" !! HAHA

  31. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

yeah, i was wondering if the kids could see it too- anyone know? I was in such shock after the movie i can barely remember it-

  32. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

yeah, i wouldnt even cARE if they added it in with out paying for the CG- i' rather see an alternate version with green tights and such if they would add in the footage to make the script improve and be fleshed out.

  33. Emgee says:

This story has not been posted here yet, but: http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3055&p=.htm

VDT has become Fox's first movie to pass $100M in 13 months. I don't know about anyone else, but I see this as a good omen that FOX will want to re-up and greenlight SC.

  34. ak says:

Well, the 3-disc blu-rays I've been seeing lately have been 1 blu-ray copy, 1 DVD copy and 1 digital copy (which all seems rather redundant to me) and doesn't necessarily mean more content. But the fact that there's "2-disc special edition" has me hopeful.

  35. Moviecynic says:

I enjoy this website because I can read comments from people who have enjoyed three epic Narnian films. I don't know if there are enough of us real fans out there to support a forth film but I am very happy for the three we have. It was a long wait for movies of this grandeur and we may not see them again anytime soon if VODT isn't seen by enough people.

Only five extra min.? Oh well. At least we can enjoy those 5 min. I was really hoping for an extended edition though.

  36. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

the editor was interviewed on narniafans , he sounded very nice. too bad about the editing job, though.

  37. Lucy says:

omg! I want to see that too!

  38. Anhun says:

About the deletions: Not all deleted material is an entire deleted scene. I would imagine most of the deleted footage is actually shots and mini-sequences that were removed from longer scenes that we saw in theaters. Maybe they cut out some of the dialogue from talky scenes on the ship. Maybe they trimmed down some of the action shots from the battle with a sea serpent, or the fights on the Lone Islands. If it's just part of an existing scene it would belong in an extended edition, but not a "deleted scenes" section of the DVD.

  39. Anhun says:

So we are getting a commentary! 😀

  40. Narnian Meerkat says:

Yeah. No kidding. 😛 Yeah, but at least like, "Caspian Doubt" looks like a scene from the book. Maybe. . .

  41. Narnian Meerkat says:

Yeah, me too to the extended edition!!!!! If only. . .

  42. I wouldn't exactly say it's an anti-Lewis movie. Yes, in some parts of the movie, Aslan's lines were cringe-worthy, and they added that temptation theme out of nowhere, and the green mist wasn't exactly a subtle way of making the movie more 'cinematic'. But I was talking to some friends the other day who hadn't read the book, and they were saying that VDT had a much clearer Christian message than the other two.
In the LWW, the message is very allegorical, and many do not understand who Aslan represents. In PC, well, there wasn't much of a spiritual message there, what with all the romance themes, etc. But in VDT, the message was so clear to them! There was no mistaking who Aslan was, and that he lived in our world too.
I don't know C.S. Lewis personally, so I'm not really sure what he would think, but I'm taking an educated guess that he might be happy that children are hearing a clear message about Christ through the film medium 😀 And that's the main thing, right?

  43. High Queen of Narnia says:

You know… I wonder if "The Kids in Narnia" is that scene with all four Pevensies!

  44. Serenia says:

5 minutes isn't enough to save this movie.

  45. Non-Negotiable Comment says:

"You can’t just relax and enjoy watching a film…"

That's just a… ridiculous… statement. I can't imagine anyone here who WANTED to enjoy 'Dawn Treader' as much as glumpuddle must have. He has given the film multiple viewings, and has bent over backwards to try and find even the slightest positive thing to say about it. You can HEAR the conflict in his voice when he's offering his views. I believe it's very difficult for him to convey his feelings regarding the film, because they're so far from what he'd hoped they'd be. He's not negative, he's not overly critical. He's SHOCKED and CRUSHED at how poor a film this is, and I am right there with him.

As others have said, READ his comments, and LISTEN to his thoughts on YouTube. glumpuddle is BANG ON in his assessment of the film's many (MANY) flaws, and I salute him for his methodical, thoughtful analysis. Criticism of the film is, believe it or not, as well-intended as PRAISE of it. It all comes from the same place. We LOVE these books, and we want to see them represented well. For many of us, this was a deeply disappointing, ill-conceived adaptation of a story that we hold dear to our hearts. That does not lend itself easily to relaxing enjoyment.

  46. Emgee says:

Who says it needs saving? It was an awesome movie.

  47. skandargirl_95 says:

what the FUDGE?????(okay, no cursing 'coz I know this is supposed to be a family-friendly site)NO BLOOPERS OR BEHIND THE SCENES CLIPS????that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LAME:man, I know I HATE Disney for throwing Narnia overboard, but they sure did a better job with the DVD sales than this DVD might do in the future…DAGNABBIT!!!it makes me want to hold a strike in front of their studio

  48. skandargirl_95 says:

I know right????it's a bit stupid to even release this DVD if it's only going to have THAT for the extras:I bought the other two DVDs BECAUSE of the behind-the-scenes footage that came with it AND the actor commentary:and it was BRILLIANT:This one just might be a sinking ship in the making(sorry with the boat puns:just woke up and in a cranky mood, and THIS news certainly doesn't make it any better)

  49. Lucy says:

But that's just it, not EVERYONE agrees it was a poor film. And it makes me mad that just because someone doesn't like it and can point out disimilarities from the book to "back up" why he doesn't like it, all of us who liked the movie are just supposed to keel over, stop saying we liked it, and take on the "it was a poor film" as a FACT? It doesn't matter how many times you say, "it was a poor film", that doesn't make it a fact the way, "The sky is blue" is. Not everyone completely hated the pace, while still hoping for an extended edition themselves anyway just because they enjoyed it so much and wanted more time with a movie THEY LIKED AND DID NOT FIND POOR. Honestly, in spite of everything people are saying about "Well we TRIED to liked the movie but it just sucks", I think that's just silly; I mean, if you were REALLY trying to like a film you would do more than just point at the stinking screen going, "That's wrong! That's wrong! Aslan's voice didn't go up at the end of sayihg that, so obviously his out of character. That's wrong! That scene isn't in the book so it makes no sense. That's wrong." Seriously, it's okay for anyone out there who didn't like the movie not to, but it's unfair for you all to try and saddle us with the OPINON (that's right, I said OPINON, key word here) that it's a lousy movie. That's like saying just because city of Ember added giant moles and speaded up their pace, true fans of the book have to hate it or else they're not true fans. That's silly; for any fandom. I personally (and my GRANDMOTHER, mind you) loved VDT.

  50. GoGators1983 says:

    Savber100,

I'm not sure I entirely agree with your analysis of the end of the world scene. I don't recall Aslan using the word "deserve". I think the children or Caspian used it. It did make me cringe a bit when they said it. But Reepicheep, when approaching Aslan, did say something to the effect of "I know that I don't deserve it, but…". So at least he realized that he didn't deserve to be allowed into Aslan's country.

As far as his (Aslan's) country being made for "noble hearts like yours" (Reepicheep's), what is wrong with that? If we are making a comparison to heaven and Aslan's country, do you think it would be more accurate to say that heaven is for the "cowardly" or "ignoble" or "heartless"?

Also, Caspian, when faced with a choice of whether to go to Aslan's country right now or wait, realizes his failings and promises to be a better king. Shouldn't we also, when faced with our own mortality and the life (and duty) we've been given while we are here, also be humbled by that?

Overall, I don't agree that the movie was "anti-Lewis" in any sense, but there certainly were some moments were a bit white-washed. And dumbed down…(but movies usually are, sadly)

My biggest regret about the whole movie is that they left out one of my favorite lines in the whole book. When Aslan corrects Eustace's claim that stars are flaming balls of gas, he says: "Even in your world, my son, that is not what a star is, but only what it is made of." If that were the only line they added back in a deleted scene, I'd be thrilled!

  51. Non-Negotiable Comment says:

If your convictions are strong enough, then no one should be able to "saddle" you with anything. It seems the gist of your argument is "Your opinion makes me mad, stop expressing it." Good luck with that. You don't have to "keel over", you don't have to submit to anything anyone states here. You don't even have to read it. Free will: a tremendous gift from God.

  52. Mayor Wilkins says:

It was a beautiful movie. At least that's my opinion.
It brings me so much joy.
Easily the most fun I had at the movies all year.
Amazing how I can love the book and the movie at the same time despite the fact that they are different. Interesting.

  53. Lucy says:

    I agree with mayor wilkins.

  54. I think that was meant to be a trailer only scene, to show that this movie is (or at least meant to be) more on character development rather than the different themes involving the Battles of Beruna in the first two Chronicles.

  55. A) They should try to switch back to Disney. B) They should get Adamson to direct. C)KEEP THE MOVIE SLOW PACED. We don't care if it takes four years as long as The Silver Chair comes out almost flawless. Add scenes all you want as long as it makes sense. I will accept The Voyage of the Dawn Treader for the good it's given us and as a first mistake; if they make the mistake again there's no point in going on. Please read this producers/everyone else in the crew and give the actors sensible parts this time thank you!!!!

  56. Ok people!!!! I WANT BLOOPERS!!! And there better be a commentary with Skandar, cause I really need his voice right now. Does that sound cheesey? Sorry my Narnia buddies, but you know how it is with girls these days.

  57. Brisa says:

5+ minuets of deleted scenes? That stinks, I want a lot more.

(BTW, I did enjoy the movie, though it wasn't my favorite of the three)

  58. Alambil says:

"The Kids in Narnia…" is actually the shortened version of "The Kids in Narnian Clothes". Maybe something about Lucy borrowing Caspian's clothes?

  59. Alambil…. How do you know that? If that's what it really says maybe it's a dream or something that one of the Pevensies has of all four of them wearing Narnian clothes.
