“There’s a Place for Us” Receives Golden Globe Nomination
The Golden Globe Nominations were announced this morning and Carrie Underwood’s song for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, “There’s a Place for Us”, is in the running for the Best Original Song for a Motion Picture. Congratulations Carrie! As well as co-writers David Hodges and Hillary Lindsey!
The other four nominations are:

This is very good; more spotlight on the movie! This song is so beautiful and perfect for the movie. I was already crying at the end of the movie and then this song started playing and it made me cry more. It just one of those songs. But you know, I like The Call by Regina Spektor at the end of PC better.
This nomination is a gift for the movie. The first movie was awarded with an Oscar and this one is nominated for a Golden Globe. I mean, they have to make the next books into movies. Narnia is the same word like success.
On Thursday the movie comes out in my country and I will go.

I hope it does well, just for the sake of the franchise. I don't really care for the song itself, it's better than some of the first, but if this helps the movie along, then I REALLY hope it wins! =D

Wow, can't believe this song is getting noticed at all. I mean, I love country and it's a great song, but it doesn't fit to have Carrie Underwood singing at the end of a Narnian film! Why can't we have music that is unique and fits to Narnia instead of a pop song like in PC and VDT? Yes, they're good songs, but not for Narnia…
i looooove this song. it was a little wierd having carrie underwood attatched to it, but it helps the cause. the lyrics are perfect for the movie. I get totally get choked up when i hear it! let's pray it wins!

It is about the fact.. That Underwood did really good job writing this song. Plus, she sings the hell out of it!! She could possibly get a OSCAR for this. I am VERY excited.

This was my thought at first, but I think it turned out good. Personally, I am hoping for Josh Groban to sing for one of the Narnia movies!!! I think he would do amazing for it.

The only song I think that deserves the award as much as Carrie's is "I See The Light" from 'Tangled.' Other than that, TAPFU should win hands-down.

Carrie did a really great job with this song! I think that it definitely deserves the Golden Globe 🙂 I never really thought that country sort of music would fit Narnia, but at the end it just added a sad touch that made me want to bawl my eyes out =P
Okay, don't kill me for saying this, but I'm not really a huge fan of the song. To me, it seemed slightly, well, shallow. For the Narnia movies anyway. "We can be the Kings and Queens of anything if we believe"? To me, there was so much to the movie than that. We've seen great songs such as 'This is Home' come from previous movies that speak about deeper themes than being Kings and Queens of anything.
I don't hate the song or anything, and i think that Carrie sings it beautifully, I just believe they could have done so much better.

I totally agree. The song is a nice song, but it's shallow when it is supposed to represent Narnia and the Narnian kings and queens.
Burlesque had two nominations, that's not fair! Funny it was because critics haven't been kind to it at all. Kind of like how the Last Airbender was shortlisted for the visual effects Oscar and how critics (and myself and most other fans of Avatar the show) hated it with a passion!

There is a rumour floating around that Dawn Trader is short-listed for Visual Effects for the Oscars so fingers crossed for that one and many more (ie: Best Film, since there are ten available spots now)
Wow. Must have been a very poor year for film songs. If this dreadful little song gets an Oscar nod I will lose what tiny shreds of faith I have left in the human race. But then saccharine, cliched-ridden overwrought "ballads" sung by average-to-mediocre singers are what the film awards people like.

I agree with Ionic Bonding Rocks and Gem. The song would be cool on the radio but seemed shallow after the movie. The line "there's a place for us" was great and if it went on to sing of grace and a place for those who care about goodness and who want to be heroic that would have been better (for me).

I have seen Dawn Treader twice and will see it again. It is exciting and moving. I wept each time. I wonder if we are too picky and hard to please if we end up more like Eustace Clarence Scrubb before being "de-dragoned" instead of being true Narnians! While driving home from the theater I asked my daughters what they liked best. One said the transformation of Eustace into a good boy and the others said they liked it when Aslan said, “You must know me by another name in your world.”
I like the song, but I wonder why it isn't on the soundtrack CD? Maybe it'll be on an extended CD later.

i really cried hearing the song for the first time… something deep inside me broke… it's beautifully written and so beautifully sang… it's full of hope and magic in it… the song and movie deserves to win every nomination… two thumbs up…

Finally, she wrote and performed the song, and put it out there, AND it was selected…that says something. Have you ever taken a risk like that in anything? "Basement" critics just bother me. If you don't like it, just say so. You don't have to demean the artist, that's all…..dearie.
You are right, Gem. I should be civil. But, there is nothing shallow about the song at all, and the people that count…LIKE THE PRODUCERS…..thought so, as well. Listen to the song again, and think about "….exactly who we are is just enough….". Is that not what we all should try to achieve….just like the character's in the movie?
It's called hyperbole, dearie. People use it to express their opinion in a dramatic and humorous manner. I fail to see how I was demeaning the artist. I didn't claim she sold her soul to Satan to get the song in the movie. What I said is that she is an average at best singer and that the song is terrible and cliche-ridden. Those are my opinions. Getting angry at someone because they don't like a song you do is just a tad bit silly.
What risks did she take? She's an established, very successful singer. It's not like she was going to jump off the roof of her house or lose all her money if a song she probably spent an hour writing didn't get picked for a movie.
Also, if anyone was demeaning someone, it was you demeaning me. 😛 I'll have you know I live on my mother's second floor and it's a very nice second floor.

Hyperbole is not to be taken literally, yet you where quite literal in your criticism of the artist. Calling someone "average-to-mediocre" is literal, and demeaning. Of course, "second floor critics" like you certainly know better than the 12 people who bought her albums, and the millions who attend her concerts. You obviously know nothing about risk taking or accomplishment. Maybe when you grow up, you will learn to be a little kinder, especially toward people you obviously know little about.
Again, you have the right not to like her or her song, but you don't have to resort to name calling.
