Last week, MovieFone posted a clip from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader that showed Eustace stealing an orange. Now, ClevverTV has posted an extended version of the scene that also includes music. View it here:

Pirates of the Caribbean! Yay! Don’t know if it’s a deliberate jab at Disney or not but it’s quite funny if you start to think about it. This is what you get for jumping ship Disney! This is a great track, one of the best on the CD. 5/5

Clearly, they are trying a totally different strategy with the new TV spot. I love the whole return to a more magical and fantastical world idea, but they've been hammering that so hard that I don't think it's a bad idea to try shifting more toward adventure, danger, and suspense now too.
I love the clip of Reep and Eustace. Poulter's expressions of terror are great, and what they did with Reep is impressive and amusing.

I saw this TV Spot on Cartoon Network during "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." 😉 They've been showing Narnia and Tron commercials like crazy. There was also one that featured Eustace being pulled away from Aslan's table by The Green Mist.

Not a fan of that clip. Reep is way too goofy. And he seems to be enjoying the duel quite a bit. Read the book: Read wants to duel because he thinks it needs to be done. Not because he enjoys taunting kids who have no sword-fighting experience.
I absolutely love the clip of Reep and Scrub! If the whole movie is as good as that clip, I for one will be very happy!
I did not interpret that as "taunting kids."
Reep was just having some fun with the boy.

And people, I beg of you, please, stop telling people to "Read the book."
That is insulting. Most of us here already have done this.
And those of us who have not might just want to enjoy the movies. Wild idea that that might be.
Part of the problem with book purists is the "Better than you because I read and correctly deciphered the text, while the rest of the world misinterpreted everything" attitude. It really turns me off.
Read the book, and you will understand why people keep writing that: because of many fans' bad experience with PC, that painfully 'slapped the book in the face' in so many instances.

You are right, it is getting tiring hearing the book purists constantly moaning about the book film comparison. If they stuck to the book, it would have been like the bbc version, though good, but extremely dull and episodic, I yawned a few times through it.
Films cannot match their book counterparts, because a book involves imagination, a film shows an interpretation of Apted's imagination.
If you dont like the changes, then watch the film so we may get the silver chair, rather then for enjoyments sake

I haven't seen the clip. :p But I must say that I don't think glumPuddle is saying that it absolutely must be like the BBC adaptation. I think he's simply doing his analysis of a personality change in a character, and drawing the conclusion that he doesn't like it. One is not required to like every single scene without any opinion on how it has been changed.

I have nothing against other people's opinions.
I have something against the general "Holier than thou" attitude of some Narnia book purists.
So many times I get the impression that they consider themselves superior in some way. I don't like that. I would be fine if he didn't say "Read the book" as if those of us who like the clip have not read it and do not understand the character of Reepicheep. It's insulting.
Your last comment smells of inferiority complex. When did 'purist' become a dirty word ?
The reason for all of this is that people enjoy the movies, but are very passionate about the books. Do not misinterpret passion for snobbism.
Perhaps some day, when you grow up, you will know what I mean ( just kidding LOL )

Loved the TV spot! Finally… Magic is good but they were playing on the fantastical aspect a bit too much to keep me comfortable…
Reep is funny but he isn't supposed to be. He is a warrior not some singing dancing mouse. I miss the old Reep and Eddie Izard. I am not crazy about this new guy.
BTW it is kinda funny the way he says No One Touches The Tail!

Great, great, great! Come on, friends: a book is a book and a movie is a movie. I'm SO glad that we've got Gresham to fight the appropriate battles for us. Of course, there will be some changes, since this is a film maker's vision – just the same as a book adaptation might be different from a film – each media plays to its own strengths and weaknesses.
I'm thrilled that a skilled director is creating a dynamic film vision of this great work.
Oh my goodness people the clip is good, just because Reep is having a little fun with Eustace in ONE clip doesn't mean that they changed his character. I for one loved the clip and I am a huge fan of the books. I also understand though that a movie can never be exactly like a book. Take lord of the rings for example, they are quite different from the books but they are still amazing moving movies nontheless. Also when you go to see the movie this week try to be in a good hopeful mood. Being in a bad mood can ruin it for you. Its all a mind game.

I agree that Reepicheep seems rather–I'm not sure I'd say goofy, but much more "swashbuckling" and "gung-ho" than the Reep in the book. In the book he's a bit more–prim? Or perhaps reserved, dignified, or courteous would be better terms. I'm not really happy about the change. But since a lot of the characters in the movies have been changed from the book, I'm not that surprised. Maybe they thought the book Reep was too stuffy (which I think a couple times he was, just a tiny bit). But as I said, I'm not happy about the change. However, this is only a short clip, and hopefully we'll see different sides of him in the film. At least he's not downright mean to Eustace, or a really flat character. It could always be worse, I guess.

oh my goodness we have music to the scene!! and i LOVE the violin! absolutely love it! Eustace's face when Reep has his sword pointed at him is priceless! i was laughing non-stop 😀 oh i cannot wait to see this on the big screen!
oh! i saw this TV Spot when my sisters were watching TV yesterday! those incredible shots of the dragon picking up Edmund and the Sea Serpent coiling around the boat made me so jumpy and excited!! they look amazing!!
Okay, I just pin-pointed one of the things I don't like about this version of Reep. In the book, he never tries to be funny (at least not that I can think of), but he comes across that way just because of how serious and earnest he is. His motivation is to seek honor for himself and others, and to serve Aslan.
On the other hand, the Reepicheep in this clip seems like he's doing everything for the adrenaline rush and not for honor. He also seems like he's almost trying to be funny. I'm hoping that his fixation with honor will come out more in the film.
Anyway, I realize this is only a clip, and please don't rail at me for judging the movie before I've seen it. I do like the clip well enough, and I'm just voicing some concerns I've come up with after seeing it a few times. Hopefully once I see the whole film I'll feel better, and I'm sure I like Reep a lot (though I'll probably like him in the book better). 🙂
The only thing that bordered on goofy was the OHHHHHH!!! right before Reep appeared to go ever board. Despite the music giving the scene a little bit of whimsy (perfectly appropriate!), it came across quite seriously to me. I mean, Eustace was taking some serious swings at Reep with that butchers knife and realistically why would Reep not take atleast a little pleasure in pouncing on the opportunity to teach the 'so for' despicable Eustace Scrubb some manners!!!

I'm avoiding watching any clips for fear of spoilers, but the TV spot, as far as a TV spot goes, is pretty great. Obvious problems with adaption, but nothing we haven't seen already. I'm just glad because it's one of the first bits that I think would make a general audience want to see it.
Hooray for a rowing scene(in the trailer)! I was hoping they wouldn't leave that aspect of "sailing" out of the film.

Actually, Reep was teaching Eustace here some sword skills – he said something to the effect like, I can make a skilled swordsman out of you yet. And yes, I watched the movie already in a theatre in my country 😉 in 3D too- was surprised that it was shown earlier here than the US. Much better than Caspian in my own opinion.
So I have a question about the TV spot: Where it says 3D, is that the boat with the sea creature wrapped all around it?
Also – adorable scene between Reep and Eustace, I can't wait to see what happened right after.

LOVE the Reepicheep and Euestace duel. I just love how Reep swings the orange for Lord Drinian to catch.

Sure! 🙂 First Eustace sneakly steals the orange, then Reepicheep startles him, tries to make him put it back, looks away, then Eustace grabs his tail, and Reepicheep says "GASP! Let go of my tail!" Eustace says something like, "Make me!" and then Reep says, "Aslan himself, I repeat, ASLAN himself, gave me that tail, and NO ONE touches the tail!" Euestace finally lets go and says, "Sorry." Then he tries to run away, Reep says, "Trying to run away are you? Wer're on a boat you know. . ." Then he barely stabs Euestace untill he gets the orange back, and the orange is pinned in his rapier. He swings the orange to Lord Drinian who catches it like a ball, and Eustace fights with Reep, then Reep "falls off" the Dawn Treader, Eustace goes to the rail, looks confused, and Reep just sneeeeeeks up behind him, taps him with his tail and then the clip ends. 🙂 You're welcome!
Ok, this doesn't have anything to do with the clips but, glumPuddle, do you now if they ever came out with a soundtrack for the Focus on the Family Radio Theater production of the books? From the little that I've heard, I think they are as good as any of the movie soundtracks that have come out for the first 2 movies.
This is the view from a 51 year old American “boy” who loves these types of movies and books.
I’ve seen, ,and own on Blu Ray, both Narnia movies. First of all I didn’t thing PC was that bad, it had adventure, romance, blood and gore (what all us Americans live for) and not the least…magic. Yes I’ll agree that “The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe” was better. It kept me on the edge of my seat almost the whole time while watching it at the theater. My children seem to get tired of me wanting to watch a “Narnia” movie when we havea video library of over 400 DVD’s and Blu ray disks to choose from, it’s just that I never get tired if watching the adventure, even if it isn’t real.
I’m only half way through the 3rd book “The Horse and his Boy” (such an appropriate title)and plan to read all seven books even if I end up seeing them on the big screen first.
These books and subsequent movies are the magical, brainchild of Englishman Clive Staples Lewis, and believe it or not this is the only set of books he wrote for “children”. As a fan now of Mr. Lewis, I plan to read all of his letters and books meant for so called adults.
As for all the griping and complaining related to reading the book or go the the movies and enjoy it, I believe "Alsan's my Homeboy" and "Bertman 316" have it spot on when the say, "it's a movie" and "it's a book", your never ever going to get the same feeling from a move as you would a book, it just wont happen, your imagination is just too good to compete with someones adaptation of the (or any) book.
PS: I’ll never grow up…………………….

I went to it yesterday and I thought it was the best Narnia film to date and there wasn't a hint of Disney in it. Despite this, the 3D wasn't crash hot. Certainly higher than Clash of the Titans or The Last Airbender standard but not quite like Avatar. The 3D was like a moving diorama.
If you're planning on reading all of Lewis's stuff for so-called adults, I would suggest starting with his Space Trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength). They are actually (dare I say it on a Narnia website) my favorite of his books (and ones that I would LOVE to see filmed well). After that, The Great Divorce and The Screwtape Letters should be good next choices.
Lewis's fictional books are probably the best way for a Narnia fan to transition to his more complex theological and philosophical texts. However, I would wait to read his novel Till We Have Faces until you at least first read his autobiography, Surprised By Joy. That should help make what he was doing in the novel a little bit clearer. My favorites of his non-fiction books are The Abolition of Man (ethics), Mere Christianity (religious), and An Experiment in Criticism (literary). And don't forget to check out his essays too–a lot of them are great.
I love the music, love Will's performance, and love how Drinian catches that orange!!
