James McAvoy (Mr. Tumnus in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) and his wife Anne-Marie Duff announced today that they are expecting their first child. Congratulations to you both!

I didn't know that he was married either- in the LWW illustrated companion, he mentions his girlfriend when he is interviewed by Georgie- I wonder if it's the same lady? Anyway, congratulations to the baby! When is he/she due?

Wait- I just noticed something. It says that James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff are having a baby. If they're married, why aren't their last names the same?

Many women don't change their names after marriage; it's not a requirement. In addition, if the lady became known professionally by her maiden name – and Ms. Duff had a lot of work and award nominations prior to marrying (I personally loved "The Way We Live Now"), she will often stick with that name. I've even had schoolteachers who married during the school year but still went by "Miss So-and-so" until the next school year to make it easier for us as students.
That's so lovely now he's gonna have a little Lucy! That's such a blessing!
