AslansCountry Interviews Ernie Malik
Cyclops from AslansCountry.com had the opportunty to interview Ernie Malik, the Dawn Treader film’s publicist. The most interesting bit is Ernie giving us further confirmation that the Lady of the Green Kirtle will not be appearing in the film, as many fans feared. Read it here.
We already pretty much knew this, but this is the first time someone close to the production has gone on the record to confirm it. Phew!
Like you, gP, Cy does all the real journalism work. I just copy everybody else. lol ๐
Wait, there was a rumor that the Lady of the Green Kirtle was in the Dawn Treader? When was this?
Ben said they had been borrowing from the other books, and we don't know what they are borrowing. This could be very bad if it takes from another movie.
Keep the film in your prayers everyone!
Violence/battles involving the Dufflepuds? Hmmm…
They really aren't telling us anything.
wow there really wasn't a lot of info in that interview lol
He's being secretive, huh? Well, it's good to know at least that LotGK will not be appearing. It seems to be something that has constantly been showing itself.
Also, glad to know that Ramandu must have been cast. They must be keeping the announcement under wraps for a reason — which gets me wondering who it is!!!
It's not the first time someone close to the production has told us this and a number of other reassuring things. Your mods have had helpful responses from the production. We have in turn made reassuring comments on NarniaWeb.
But it's certainly time we saw an official comment from the publicist, and this is very welcome.
Hurray! I know they've reassured us of this before, but it's great to hear it again! The only place LotGK should be is in the Silver Chair.
The trouble with publicists is they never really tell you anything. Oh well, an interview where we don't hear anything new is better than no interview at all.
I'm wondering if he will write another movie companion book! I loved those!
Wow, this guy is short with his answers. ๐ But finally hearing that the Lady of the Green Kirtle isn't in int, whew! I am so glad to hear that, after hearing things, and taking a look at the leaked script. Looking back at the script, it almost seemed as if everything there might actually happen. I mean, the script says Lucy would have a sword, it says that they fight to free the slaves, and they have Eustace flying around the Dawn Treader. I just hope they aren't out to follow a blue star like the script says.
While it's nice to hear some of his answers about sticking to the book, I'm still not convinced that they are sticking to the book as faithfully as they should be… Though a lot of what we've heard is rumors and others' theories on the MLG and Unfathomable Fate…. We'll see in about a year from now.
i think that if they stuck to the book completely the movie will turn out lop sided. they need to add a couple things to make it be a movie.
Maybe a couple of things, but I sure hope they don't change the whole story.
did you read the interview? it says that the structure of the book's story remain in place of the film. yay!
It is sounding better. Still don't like Unfathomable Fate. The action does not include mer-people (at least according to Ernie), that is encouraging
wait, WETA isn't invoved?
I can't wait to see VotDT!
I wish he would have said more, but it's good that they're staying close to the book.
"wolfloversk says:
I wish he would have said more"
Well, I'm arranging the second part of this interview right now. So, technically, there will be more ๐ ๐
yo quiero ver un trailer de Aslan de la final de la pelicula de Narnia la trabesia del viajero de Alba
Wow…Good to hear from the publicist. I do hope he write another making-of book. Also good to have some of those nasty floating rumours shot down.
So they haven't released Ramandu's actor's name yet? I guess that means he'll be their hold-out on us; they did this with Aslan and Reepicheep, too.
I wonder why they won't tell us who Ramandu is. Kinda creepy about the "unfathomable fate" though. I wish we new how that will play into the story.
Ditto.
OH Yes! Very, very nice to know. I do hope there is a scene with the Merpeople, though.
Really? Great! Thank you thank you thank you!! And you asked some very important questions in the first interview. Good choices. So, thanks very much for the first one, too!
Yes, Mr. Malik did not disavow the frightful "Unfathomable Fate" thing. In fact, he goes so far as to say "It's a plot point." How awful!
At least there will be not LotGK or battles with the Merpeople. That is something. And the Fate can't be quite as awful without LotGK… I hope… Maybe I'd better not assume. Who knows what completely un-canon items they could be adding! – I will not hyperventilate, I will not hyperventilate, I will not…..
exactly.
oh come on! whats the best way to get someone from production to say "no" or "its not true"? ask them point blank about plot details and/or characters. sheesh.
take some advice from some of us who's been at this game for a while: its not so much *what* you ask but *how* you ask it. dont say "is LOTGK gonna be in the movie?" well duh the first thing they're gonna think is "leaked script question. kill it!" its like you're feeding questions to this guy that you know what the answer will be, which makes the interview pointless. fer goodness sakes!
dude, try to be a bit more "clever" with the questions next time. no i dont mean your questions were dumb, but goodness knows they were so obvious. there is more than one way to skin a cat. you know they will never be forthcoming with anything plot or spoiler related, which includes characters and references to future movies. use various interviews and info already out there to fashion your questions. you know that Ben Barnes was already quoted as saying that they borrowed ideas from some of the other books. try to cleverly post a follow up question to that: are they storylines that involve characters that have already appeared (Eustace, Caspian, Edmund?) or not? (Jill, Digory and Polly, Tirian?) would they ever feature anything about the Calormenes? (this will indicate if they got any ideas from Last Battle/ Horse and his Boy). try to touch lightly on any other evil presence appearing in VODT, will we see the White Witch again or are there any future bad guys that would make their presence felt? (this will now nudge them to say anything about LOTGK or Tash).
come on Cy, try to be a bit more creative with the questions ok? ๐
hmm…that's good,'cause no one spills out any spoilers…yay!I hope that one year passes by like a breeze!(but then, I'd miss out on my senior year in high school)…sigh…can't wait til it comes out!
Sweet. I have to admit you guys are 1st place I go to when I'm looking for Narnia news. Well done
what is the "unfathomable fate" ??!? I'm not so sure I like the sound of that. :S
I didn't know that LotGK was rumored to be in it! Well, I'm sure gald she's not!! The only place she belongs is SC! (which I can't wait for! they better make it!)
Talk about cryptic!
Thanks to the person who interviewed Mr. Malik! Sorry I dont' know your name!
ARGH! I can't wait for Dec. 10th, 2010!!!!!!!!! 370 more days!!!?!?!? *faints*
Well, any doubts are now confirmed. Mlg is in the movie, Ramandu is in the movie, and he says he thinks it is close to the source material and there is an unfathomable fate. This gives me mixed feelings.
Wow, that publicist seemed SO EXCITED to be talking about the movie.
Hey, K ๐ I know most of these comments on here and on other websites call his replies vague, cryptic, or unexcited- but please take into thought that this was an email-interview, and that his answers were placed in his tough schedule. ๐
Oh that makes sense! ๐
Yeah that would explain why his answers seemed short.
Hey, Guys ๐
I have the second part of the interview and I'll post it as soon as possible.. I'm having internet connection problems ATM which has made it take longer. Thanks- Cyfi
