Eddie Izzard Suggested as the Next Doctor Who

From The Geek Files: Actor Sylvester McCoy, who played the 7th Doctor Who in 1987-1989, says Eddie Izzard would be perfect to take over from current Time Lord David Tennant. Speaking to Teletext’s Showbiz Spy, he said: “I like Tom Baker’s suggestion which he made a while back. Eddie Izzard would be perfect!” Fourth Doctor Tom Baker had suggested cross-dressing comedian Izzard for the Time Lord role in 2003. Back then, Alan Davies and Richard E Grant were the bookies’ favourites to take the role. Baker told the BBC that Izzard would bring an ’alien quality’ to the Doctor. Read the whole story here.
