Tessa: Hey surfers! Today we’re looking behind the scenes of Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media’s latest adventure ‘The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian.’

Tessa: And surfers, there are a lot of new creatures in the forest of Narnia. So, Michael’s taking us to meet make-up maestro, Howard Berger, who is Narnia’s creature creator.

Berger: Welcome to this portion of Narnia. This is where we make all the creatures like satyrs, and minotaur’s, and fauns, and dwarfs, and all the wonderful things that inhabit Narnia.

Berger Voice Over: From sculptors to painters to mold makers, we built everything for this movie which is hundreds and hundreds of characters.

SHOT OF NIKABRIK AND TRUFFLEHUNTER SWITCHES TO A WIDE SHOT OF THE DANCING LAWN. QUICK SHOT OF CASPIAN LOOKING AROUND. SWITCH BACK TO THE WORKSHOP WITH BERGER AND MICHAEL.

Michael: What is the strangest creature you’ve created?

Berger: Hmm. That’s a tough one. I really like the hag. It’s got like an old woman meets bird creature. We’ve got a pair of real ram horns and molded them for the satyrs.

Berger: The werewolf has this cool head, big radio controls and these top guys, these are minotaurs.

Caspian: Minotaurs? They’re real?

Michael: Can I try something on?

Berger: Hmm. Yeah. I think you could. So go ahead and look in the camera and say something as a Narnian.

Michael: Baaaaaaaaaaa

Tessa: While Michael’s ‘kidding’ around, let’s catch up with Jeryn who traveled all the way to Prague in the Czech Republic to visit the massive sets where Prince Caspian is being filmed.

SHOT OF MAP TO SHOW THE LOCATIONS. JERYN WALKS INTO THE MIRAZ CASTLE SET AND GREETS ROGER FORD.

Jeryn: Roger?

Ford: Yes?

Jeryn: Jeryn. Nice to meet you. This set is incredible.

Ford: Thank you.

Jeryn: Now what does a set designer do?

Ford: We get involved in choosing locations. We work out what the film is going to look like with the director. Then we set about designing sets as well.

Jeryn: Can you tell me about this castle? Like what goes on inside?

FORD POINTS OUT PARTS OF THE CASTLE. VARIOUS SHOTS OF THE CASTLE EXTERIOR. SHOT OF A GRYPHON OVER THE CASTLE TURRETS. SHOT OF CASPIAN AND SUSAN RUNNING

Ford: This is the Royal residence, here, where Miraz lives. There’s a raid on this castle from the Narnians. So there’s a lot of stunts in here, a lot of special effects.

SHOT OF REEPICHEEP. SHOT OF PETER FIGHTING. SHOT OF THE CASTLE SET. SHOT OF THE PORTCULLIS CLOSING. CLOSE UP OF PETER AT NIGHT. SHOT OF A MINOTAUR. SHOT OF FORD AND JERYN.

Ford: All these levels of the stunt people to jump up and down from. The portcullis over there, comes down on a minotaur and he stops it coming down so the other guys can escape.

Ford: So it’s all designed to be part of the action for the film.

Peter: FOR NARNIA!

Jeryn Voice Over: Ok, so now it’s time to find out what it’s like to be in the center of all that action from Prince Caspian himself, actor Ben Barnes.

CLOSE UP OF CASPIAN. SHOT OF BARNES GREETING JERYN.

Jeryn: Now can you tell me a little about your character that you play in the movie?

Barnes: Well he’s a prince, so he’s been sort of highly trained in horse riding, sword fighting skills. He’s got a professor that’s been teaching him about all the old ways of Narnia when the animals could talk and the trees could move.

CASPIAN ON HORSE BACK. BARNES WORKING WITH HIS SWORD. SHOT OF DR. CORNELIUS. QUICK SHOT OF BARNES AND JERYN SWITCHES TO A SHOT OF THE PEVENSIES AND TRUMPKIN IN A BOAT.

Lucy: It’s so still.

Trumpkin: They’re trees. What do you expect?

Lucy: They used to dance.

Barnes: He’s fascinated by all of this, but all the other Telmarines don’t believe in any of that stuff.

Caspian: You’re Narnians. You’re supposed to be extinct.

Nikabrik: Sorry to disappoint you.

Jeryn: Have you really been able to feel like a prince while you’ve been filming this movie?

Barnes: Well, I’d say funny enough when I first got on this enormous horse and they gave me this costume with the boots and the flowery arms and everything, you begin to feel like a prince, you know.

SHOT OF CASPIAN ON HORSEBACK. SHOT OF BARNES AND JERYN. SHOT OF PETER AND THE OTHER PEVENSIES MEETING CASPIAN IN THE WOODS.

Peter: Prince Caspian?

Caspian: You’re not exactly what I expected.

Edmund: Neither are you.

SHOT OF BARNES. SHOT OF CASPIAN ON HORSEBACK. SHOT OF SUSAN ON THE GROUND. SHOT OF CASPIAN HELPING SUSAN MOUNT BEHIND HIM.

Barnes: My very first day filming was on a horse with my sword in hand then I had to ride in and kind of save the day. It was a great first day.

Caspian: Two days ago I didn’t believe in the existence of dwarfs or centaurs, but here you are and together we have a chance to take back what is ours.
