More Dawn Treader Updates
From the Bayside Bulletin:
Redland Shire Council this week revealed Disney Pictures was interested in using Cleveland Point or Wellington Point in its production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which is expected to be filmed next year.
The Australian Film and Television Commission, which was involved in the location scouting, has refused to confirm any details because no arrangements have been finalised.
However, a report presented to the council’s planning and policy committee meeting on Wednesday said the film’s producer, director and key staff visited Wellington Point and Cleveland Point in September to look at sites.
The report said if Cleveland Point was used, a 60m (about 65yd or 200ft) long by 50m (about 55yd or 165ft) wide pier would have to be constructed, along with a 20m (about 22yd or 65ft) wide by 40m (about 44yd or 130ft) ramp.
The Dawn Treader set, a 40m (about 44yd or 130ft) vessel, would be attached to the pier.
Filming would take place between June and September [2008] and about 400 production crew would provide a boost to the local economy, the council report said.
