Do I need to register to post here?
Yes, you will need to register in order to post on the forum.
Why can't I log in?
To log in to the forum you must use the username and password that you entered when registering for the forum. If you have not yet registered, you must first do so in order to log in. If you have registered and still are unable to log in, check that you have all cookies enabled on your web browser. You may also need to add NarniaWeb to your browser’s list of trusted websites. If you continue to have problems logging in, please let us know via the Contact Us button on the sidebar.
What if I registered in the past but can’t log in now?
It could be that you haven't posted anything for awhile, or never posted at all. It is not uncommon for the forum administrators to periodically delete inactive users from the database to free up usernames and reduce the size of the database. Please register again.
What if I lose my password?
To reset your password, click on the Login button. At the bottom of the login page you will see a link to request that a new password be emailed to you. If you do not have a valid email address listed in your profile, then you will need to contact the forum administrator via the Contact Us button to request that your password be reset manually.
User Preferences and Forum Settings
How do I change my forum settings?
You can change your forum settings, profile information, registration details, etc. from your Member Control Panel. Your control panel is located at the top left of the forum when you are logged in.
How do I change the forum times and dates to match my timezone?
To change the times and dates to your local timezone, adjust your Forum Preferences in your Member Control Panel. You will need add or subtract the correct number of hours from the server time (U.S. Mountain Time) to have the forum display your local time.
What does my rank on the forum indicate?
Forum rank (such as Regular, Guru, or Zealot) indicates which member group you belong to and is based on how many posts you’ve made on the forum. The more messages you post, the higher your rank.
What web browser can I use for this forum?
You can use this forum with almost any web browser that supports XHTML and JavaScript. For full functionality we recommend that you use Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox, Opera 9+, or Netscape 9+. Safari and versions of Internet Explorer prior to version 7 will run, but with limited functionality.
Posting Messages
How do I post a message on the forum?
To post a message on the forum, scroll to the last message in a thread and type your message in the Post Reply box. When you’ve finished, click the "Post Message" button at the bottom and your message will be posted.
How do I delete my posts?
You can delete your post only if it is the last post in a thread and no one has replied to it. Click on Post Options in the upper right-hand corner of your post and select "Delete Post" from the drop-down menu.
How do I edit my posts?
Click on Post Options in the upper right-hand corner of your post and select "Edit Post" from the drop-down menu. This will allow you to change or add to what you originally posted.
How do I add a signature to my post?
You will need to upload your signature banner to your forum profile from an online photo storage site such as photobucket.com or imageshack.com. You will need to enclose the link from your photo storage site with the forum code, so it will look like this: {IMG}yourlinkhere{/IMG}, but use [ and ] instead of { and }. Please note that signature images may not be larger than 300 x 100 pixels and may not be animated.
How do I create a poll?
Certain sections of the forum do not allow members to start polls and you will need to request a moderator from that section to approve and open your poll for you. If you are able to open it yourself, you will see a "New Poll" button at the top of the forum and topic screens. You will need to enter a poll question and at least two options for the poll.
Why am I not able to view a particular section?
Some sections are set up to allow only certain member groups (such as administrators) to access them.
Why is my post not displayed on the forum?
This forum has a probation process for new members. Your first several posts will have to be approved by a moderator before they will appear on the forum. You may edit your post during this time if you wish. When your probation is up, your posts will appear as soon as you submit them.
What if I have Rich Text Editor (WYSIWYG) posting issues?
If you are using Internet Explorer 5+ (Windows only), Firefox, Opera 9+, or Netscape 7+, you should have a Rich Text (WYSIWYG) Editor to use when typing your messages. If you find that you are having problems using the WYSIWYG editor, you can disable the WYSIWYG Editor by turning off the WYSIWYG Posting Editor in your Forum Preferences (located in your Member Control Panel).
Message Formatting
What are BBcodes?
Forum BBcodes allow you to format the messages you post on the forum. BBcodes are very similar to HTML except that tags are enclosed in square brackets, [ and ], rather than < and >. You can also disable BBcodes when posting a message. Click here to view BBcodes that are available on the forum.
Can I use HTML on the forum?
HTML cannot be used in your posts. This is for security reasons, as malicious HTML code can be used to destroy the layout of the forum or even crash a web browser when a member tries to view a post.
What are emoticons?
Emoticons (or smileys) are small graphical images that can be used to express feelings and show emotions. You can see the list of emoticons next to the Post Reply box when posting a message. To use emoticons on the forum, simply click on the emoticon you would like to add to your post.
Can I post images on the forum?
Images can be added to your posts by clicking the Image Upload button located above the Post Reply box. You can upload images from your computer or from an online photo storage site. Uploaded images may not be larger than 65KB.
What are closed topics?
Closed topics are threads that have been shut down either by inactivity or by the moderators. Once a topic is closed you will no longer be able to post a reply there or vote if it is a poll.
User Groups
What are forum administrators?
Forums administrators run the site. They have the highest level of control over the forum, including the ability to turn site features on and off, ban members, edit and delete posts/topics, create member groups, etc. The administrators make the final decisions for the site.
What are forum moderators?
Moderators are individuals who take care of day-to-day forum business. They have the power to edit, delete, and move posts as well as close and reopen topics. Moderators are assigned by section, and their primary responsibility is to make sure the rules are being followed.
Private Messaging
What is Private Messaging?
The Private Messaging system works almost like an email inbox for members to exchange messages on the site. The messages you send do not appear on the public forum.
Why am I having trouble sending a Private Message?
Members on probation can only send Private Messages to the moderators. Once you are done with probation, you will be able to send Private Messages to regular members. In other cases, a member may have blocked you from being able to send messages to his/her Private Message inbox, or the recipient’s inbox may be full.
Can I prevent someone from sending me Private Messages?
If you are receiving unwanted Private Messages from another member, you can block that person from sending you Private Messages. To do this, go into the Private Messaging system and go to your buddy list. Click to add the person as a buddy, but choose the "Not message me" option from the drop-down menu. This will prevent that person from sending you any more Private Messages.
RSS Feeds
What is an RSS feed?
RSS (which stands for Really Simple Syndication) is a technology using XML that allows websites to syndicate website content. You may subscribe to any of the RSS feeds available in the forum so you are always up-to-date with the latest posts or calendar events.
How do I subscribe to the forum’s RSS feeds?
There are several ways you can subscribe to one or all of the RSS feeds available within the forum. You can use: a web browser that supports live RSS bookmarks (Firefox, IE7, Safari, Opera); an online RSS news reader; a Windows Vista sidebar; an RSS news reader installed on your computer; or an email program that supports RSS like Mozilla Thunderbird. The RSS link is located in the upper right-hand corner of the forum when you are logged in.
Calendar System
What is the Calendar system?
The Calendar System is a built-in forum calendar that works very much like a normal calendar or diary, with Week View, Month View, and Year View options. You can view Calendar Events and member birthdays for any date you select.
How do I create a Calendar Event?
At this time only forum administrators and moderators can create calendar events. To create a calendar event, select an Event Date when creating a new topic on the forum. This event can then be viewed like any other forum topic or through the Calendar System where it is displayed on the event date.
