Most instructions for embroidery I ever read said you pull out a strand at a time and then re-align the threads if you need more than one strand.

The skein will look kind of lumpy as you remove the thread, but once the single thread is out, you can grab it by the ends and straighten it.

  We have all been disappointed in the judging on the Women's Gymnastics.  It is not just the vault, but the balance beam and other things too.  The only event that was truly judged accurately was the floor exercises last night.  The top three finishers were truly the top three performers (US got silver).  As to which one was better of those three, I cannot say.
 
  US Fencing is climing the ranks.  I believe Fencing is over for the Olypmics now and the US finished 2nd overall only to Italy in medal count.  We got six medals compareed to Italy's seven this year, a US best.  We got Gold, Silver, Bronze in Women's Individual Sabre, Bronze in Women's Team Sabre, Silver in Women's Team Foil, and Silver in Men's Team Sabre.  And on top of it all, next to no recognition for it except by fencers. 
 
  And re: Michael Phelps.  I have full respect for the man for what he this past week, getting 8 Gold Medals.  Unheard of?  Yes?  Astounding?  Yes.  Greatest Olympic Athlete ever?  For his sport, yes.  Overall, no.  Swimming is the only event I know of that gave him the chance to get 8 Golds.  You can get five in fencing, assuming you are so good in all three weapons to qualify and do team.  You can get three in gymnastics (team, your event, and all-around).  Track, you can get 5 (maybe more.  I just know Marion Jones went for it).  So just because Phelps had the chance to do 8, it doesn't mean he really is the greatest ever.  But nonetheless, absolute sensational performance from him.
