Extended Cut of ‘Prince Caspian’ on ABC Family?

Ten deleted scenes were included as bonus material on the Prince Caspian DVD/Blu-ray. Now, it appears that some of those scenes have been inserted back into the film for television. We received this report from Wolfloversk:

I was watching Prince Caspian on ABC Family today… and it appeared to be some sort of extended cut. They added in a few of the deleted scenes, and I believe (though I’m not positive) a few of the shots were elongated. There was however no additional shots requiring CGI…

I watched it at 10:30am-1:30pm EST [on Sunday March 11]. Some scenes they included were the sandwich conversation in the apple orchard, an extension of the scene in which the Pensevies entered the Treasure Chamber, and the deleted scene where Peter and Susan storm into the Nursery.

Deleted scenes that remained omitted included the dying dryad scene, the archery training scene, and the Picking of Glenstorm and the Bulgey Bear before the dual.

Hmmm that's very interesting! They should have left the scene with Peter and Caspian talking before the duel in. That scene really showed that they CAN get along. Otherwise Peter never had a nice word for Caspian until the very end. 😛

i always wanted them to keep the sandwich scene in the original cut, i thought i was cute and showed how the pevensies were excited to leave the Train Station behind 😉

  3. Trillian says:

The dying dryad scene was actually pretty legit, and I would have loved to have seen it put in this cut… sigh 🙂

I hope they show it again…

I agree. I rather liked that scene. Especially since, with Peter having been so awful to Caspian, that scene showed how he actually /cared/ about his future. It would have brought back even a little of of his book self….
I also liked the sandwich scene. Brought a smile to my lips. "Well, I left my sandwiches in my bag. And I left my bag at the train station. And I left the train station in London." 🙂

    Missed it! Ugh. Oh well.

Pretty neat, I think. I thought everyone hated Prince Caspian and that I was the only one who really liked it. Seems I was wrong … good. Wish I could have seen the extended version, though!

That's interesting! I wish I could have seen it.

  8. Fireflower says:

Cool! I would have watched it if I had know it was on. I wonder if it will air again…

  9. WillowofNarnia says:

Yeah that made me laugh out loud. 😀

Peter & Susan storming the nursery would be a good one to have back in the cut if one wants to straighten that out, but while abit iffy but it's not a major thing not being there.

The army battle just after the catapults start slinging is the biggest thing that breaks the spell of PC movie as it really makes the climax of the story drag, or takes away from it. I would shorten that dramatically with some edits, no underground bobbytrap, so we see the battle not working out(like the birds being downed) but i would make it really short or just cut the whole thing – painful as it is – & get back to Lucy finding Aslan, which is where the whole story has been building to, & which gives the trees awakening a really epic sweep when they come & set lose on the Telmarines, which is part of the story climax of the old Narnia has being restored. Wow, what a long sentence! oh well 🙂

I noticed they left out the one after Peter said " I think we waited for Aslan long enough" theres a scene after that but it was deleted ( its when they left and Lucy was still mad at him

  12. Sui-Lun says:

That's a wonderful scene because the brilliant Lewis wrote it. I'm actually disappointed it got deleted…

I thought that the "Lucy Being Angry at Peter" scene was a bit too much. Lucy was almost mean in that one — Lucy can't be mean! Personally, I'm glad they cut it.

YES! I KNOW! FINALLY! PRINCE CASPIAN GETS AN EXTENDED EDITION!!!!!

I was SO excited about this. I woke up one morning and turned on my television to ABC Family, and the first thing I saw was the extended balcony scene! Given all the Extended Editions that ABC Family has shown of Harry Potter, and their regular airings of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: The Extended Motion Picture, I had high hopes from seeing the 'new premieres' advertisements that they would do an extended edition for Prince Caspian. I just hope that one day, they will release this in a super-duper 4-disc Extended Edition, complete with a dark blue digipak casing, because it TOTALLY deserves it!

In case you don't know, a total of four deleted scenes were put back in this version of the film (only four because the rest of the scenes on Prince Caspian: Disc 2 were not completed).

SCENE 1: Extended escape sequence with General Glozelle opening the wardrobe (sound familiar?) and seeing that Caspian has disappeared. He tells his men "Search the castle.", then, Caspian and Dr. Cornelius walk down the hall to the armory.

SCENE 2: Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy walk through an apple orchard as they ascend the hill leading up to Cair Paravel. Peter takes an apple from the tree, shines it on his shirt, and tosses it to Lucy, who asks about some sandwiches, to which Peter replies "Well… I left mine in my bag… and I left my bag… in the train station… AND, I left the train station in England!".

SCENE 3: Queen Prunaprismia asks King Miraz about showing his son the kingdom. Miraz agrees, saying "He is to rule it one day". General Glozelle and some other horsemen ride in down below, prompting Miraz to head for the stables.

SCENE 4: Susan and Peter walk stealthily down a hall in Miraz's Castle, then burst into the nursery and find Miraz's baby boy. Peter asks "How did that get there?", to which Susan remarks "Mum never had that talk with you?". This takes place just before Caspian places his sowrd at Miraz's neck and confronts him about killing his father.

Wow! I think those are the pick of the extended scenes to put back into the film 🙂

An extended edition would be well deserved for Prince Caspian, but what i do like about the dvd version is being able to skip army battle before it goes off on it's extended tangent, to next chapter start of Lucy on Horseback about to find Aslan.

  17. Aslan's BFF says:

What about the scene with Peter and Caspian actually getting along? The one with Bulgy bear…

  18. Thee Narnian Meerkat says:

On March 10th LWW was on ABC, and it was like the extended cut too. I didn't watch the full movie though, just about the beginning to when Lucy meets Mr. Tumnus.

  19. Samuel says:

I concur, Does anyone know if we can buy the extended cuts on DVD? and is the extended edition of LWW still available?
